| Ok so I am 15 and 110 lbs.(but i am about to grow) and riding a 125 hyperlite state. I want to get a new board (preferably ronix) thats around 132-134 and that will help me progress much more. I can hs and ts wake to wake, do a couple grabs, 180, and can 360. I am looking at getting a 2008 ronix covin 133. Is this a good board? What differs between this and my State? Also ive seen the viva and really like it but its smallest size is a 136. I want a board similar to it but smaller. would the covin be a good choice? if not what are my other options? i want a fast and forgiving board that has plenty of pop. Thankyou. |

if you want fast and forgiving with plenty of pop look into hybrid rockers. and continuous rocker is all speed no pop and a 3 stage rocker is all pop, no speed and I hear a little less forgiving.
Good idea to get a longer board so you can grow into it though. with the longer board you may find your spins lacking at first the extra length and added weight will certainly take away from them so be prepared to eat water the first few times.
I don't know specifically about either of those boards. |

I just bought a 2010 143 Ronix Mana, and the board has great pop to it being a 3 stage rocker. Also the board has been great with traction, and releasing off the water for the surface tricks or W2W genre. But I cannot compare it to anything else since it is my second board, and my last board was an '06. I am in love with the board so far, and would recommend it to someone looking for a W2W board that wants to get major air. Also on the mana there are four smaller molded fins instead of two, and the option of a bolt on fin. I am experimenting with the bolt on fin to see if I like the looser feel, but with out the bolt on fin the board tracks really well.
As to board size it is determined by the weight of the rider if you haven't already figured that out. Here is a link to board size and weight if you didn't know anything about how boards are sized.

Also depending on how much weight you gain I would stick with a 134. I mean unless you gain 50lbs in the next two years a 134 IMO would work fine. Buuut of course the human body is a miracle in itself, so board size is for you to determine.
Good Luck! _________________ 2003 Mastercraft 209
