|
|
I have decided to go with 2 Wet Sounds Pro 80's for my tower and have a couple of questions about the proper amp to push them. Tim suggested the Syn 2 and the web site says pushing 2 Pro 80s at 200 x 2 watts RMS is solid. I am a newb as it relates to different ohms etc, so looking at specs becomes quite confusing to me.
Unfortunately, my budget is too tight to be able to afford this option
currently. I am looking for alternative suggestions for amp that you use or have heard. I am all about quality sounds that will be heard clearly when I am behind the boat. The ability to adjust the volume on the tower speakers is a must as my current head unit does not have this option. A 'bass knob' control on a couple of the amps I looked at might be an option? I have access to discounted RF, JL, Kicker and Clarion amps so these would be preferable brands for me to purchase within my budget.
I've trolled around the web and forums and have seen TONS of suggestions, but I am confident in the advice many of you have given your fellow borders on this forum so I figured I would ask you! Thanks for any help you guys can give me! |

We install a lot of Kicker amps... something like the ZX450.2 would work well for you.
I was bench testing a Kicker and Wetsounds amp today and whilst the wetsounds is more expensive I can say that its worth every penny. The low ampage draw, sound quality and output are just something else.... _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Brit Rider,
I checked out the Kicker and the specs say 225 x 2 watts bridged 2 ohm stereo. Does the ohms being different from the Syn 2 make any difference? Also, what does 'low ampage draw, sound quality and output' being superior on the Syn 2 mean to me out on the water? Does that mean higher volumes or more accurate reproduction of music and will I be able to tell a difference? |

Syn2's are on a long backorder right now. Good luck on finding one. That's the best amp for those speakers though.
I've had Kicker ZX amps in other boats, hated them. They have unregulated power supplies so they get hot as hell and draw a lot of current. They're not marine grade if that matters in your boat.
Clarion amps are junk. I'm a dealer for them, and I can attest to that. |

Update: I just ordered a pair of Pro 80's, Syn 2 amp and WS-420. I'll submit some pictures of the completed project and give a quick review once they are installed! |
