I was in the Florida Keys for the weekend, which was sick, and had some nice flat water to work with so I decided to work on riding swich. ICANN stay in switch just fine, exept when I'm in switch I'm slowly heelside edging. I look at the board and it's perfectly straight, so I don't know what to do to fix the problem.

agreed with bridges. I'm not religious but a lot of people view this forum and you should be respectful of them.

Just because your board isn't turned doesn't mean you aren't favoring the heelside edge and making it go out a bit.

I have the same problem, but I'm gonna work really hard n it this year.

You gotta get the GD handle out in front of your GD lead hip and roll your GD knees over your GD toes. Mr. Green

Rolling Eyes

This isn't the anti-masterbation forum that was posted about a year ago. Why is it offensive in any way to say God damn, and if a person really takes that offensively, they would have left the forum a long time ago. Laughing

I was having the same issue with riding switch, but I noticed that when I was switch I had a tendency to leave my weight on my heels. The only reason I could think of why I was doing this was because it is more comfortable IMO to be on the heel side edge instead of toe side.

I would say just make the effort to mentally picture yourself in your regular stance and how your knees, hips, and shoulders are positioned and mimmick that on your switch side. And of course riding switch is like learning how to wakeboard again so give it time, and spend the time practicing.

Once you are switch, try dropping your back hand for a while, this will even you out a little, until you're more stable. Or slightly drop your lead shoulder, which will push your weight a little more to your toes instead of your heels.

It's just about practice.

I would say do the 2 minute drill from "the book". It's a GREAT warm up. BAsically go outside the wake heel side and edge out(two hands on rope) then edge back in(drop your back hand for this). Do this 3 times then do a FS surface 180on the inside(use the line tension) now repeat the process of carving and do another 180, this time do it on the outside where you have no line tension.. do 4 total 180's 2 inside, 2 outside. then move to the other side of the wake and repeat the process.

You could also to the 4 minute drill which starts with the 2 minute drill then you go back to the heelside of the wake and do BS surface 180's. This will teach you handle placement and get you comfy with handle passes.

I have yet to do the drill but I think starting on my next set I'm going to. Seems like a great way to just be more aware of the board and everything. good luck.

I had a hard time doing it too, but just stand up switch and keep riding switch, and just only do switch. Nowdays i dont even feel the difference, sometimes Its me thinking that my regular stance is switch Laughing

What helps me is standing with my weight on my frontfoot so i can carve pretty well, on that way you can train your progressive edge.

The best thing I can say is to get good riding however you feel comfortable, then practice surface 180s. Once you are good at those start riding switch for a few at a slow speed then going back to regular. Keep working on that and you will have it down pat. I just learned to ride switch a few weeks ago and after practicing it when the water got rough for two days I am now pretty much just as good goofy as I am when riding regular. It also helps to bring some new people along so you and them can all feel one another's pain when it comes to not being able to edge very well. lol
