Probably the same part that is illegal if you tow a skateboarder behind your vehicle.
2 things.
1) Cops were douche bags for totally going over zealous and cuffing the guys. Was that really necessary? Especially with a kid that thin? The cops were easily twice their size.
2) They shouldn't have been getting tows from a vehicle and doing that in a flooded parking lot and they should have known better. Sh*t like this will make wakeskating or wakeboarding associated with skateboarding. Cops hate skateboarding. So do businesses (liability). Lets not make them hate our sport too, mkay?

all I'm saying is if my entire town just got flooded bad and I didn't have a boat or a winch I'd prolly be doing the same thing as the guys did. and I'm sure alot of other people wud to.
I mean people winch on the side of highways in ditches and in other illegal places all the time and if u don't have the money to drop on a winch u make do with a fourwheeler or truck. idk I just really don't see the problem with it, but guess the cops did. I mean when parties got busted here u didn't see cops throwing people In cuffs without even letting them talk or finding out there age first but yet these 3 get put in cuffs no questions asked. must say that was a dick move by the cop guess he was pissed about all the donuts and coffee getting washed away in the flood. poor guy.
I love to wakeboard and respect everyone else who does. But that was simply stupid, I'm gonna have to go with the cops on that one...They could have done without the cuffs though.

That's all fine and dandy if it's on land you own. Otherwise you're breaking the law and familiarizing cops with our sport in a bad way. I'm saying don't p*ss in the pool and ruin it for the rest of us just because you feel like being pulled by a truck on public property.

I *have* done stupid stuff with my buddies (every human has, it's called sin) but have since grown up.
I no longer do stupid or illegal things because "they look like fun". I, for one, answer to a higher power and I don't get to use the excuse "well it looked like fun.."
There are safe ways to have fun (think about if he biffed it) that don't p*ss off the authorities (even though I've already agreed they were overzealous to cuff them).

That quote would only apply if the poster himself had been winching like the video. It's basically saying to not be a hypocrit(say one thing and do the complete opposite). Just wanted to throw that out there.
I've been sledding behind a truck, but that's in powdery snow...much MUCH less room for injury. being pulled on pavement wearing next to nothing? This is NOT the kind of publicity this sport needs to be getting and I've decided to retract my previous statement, the kids deserved the cuffs for being such disgraces and idiots. Hopefully they got a nice big fine to go with it.

I think you and I both know people need to do *some* judging - judging of what is right and wrong. If I never judged anything how would I know right from wrong? I'm simply pointing out that they were doing something wrong. That's unquestionably correct. More to the point of what enygma was saying is that it's about not being hypocritical and not saying "that guy is going to hell" or "that guy is going to heaven" as there is one true judge.

Even when i was younger and stupid I wouldn't have done what they are doing as it gives the sport a bad name. My father has always preached safe driving while on the boat, etc etc. I never gave the authorities any ammunition against this sport and I think even a young irresponsible kid can understand that.

Give up wakeboarding for a while and help out the community? Having nothing better to do (no work, no school) is no excuse to engage in illegal activities.

As I said, I changed my mind. We don't need little douchebags like those kids making wakeboarding look like a bad sport, it's penetration by comparison to other sports is poor as it is, it doesn't need a bad rep to boot. So I decided the kids deserved it.
And When I used to get pulled by a truck in deep snow, that was on a sled, not a snowboard and once again it's apple and oranges. These kids were getting pulled onto PAVEMENT in a Bubb Rubb of people. Yeah, that's REAL smart and even smarter of you to think they did nothing wrong by doing so. It leaves a bad impression all around.
