| i haven't ridden one yet but one of my friends has the byerly with the slider base. so far it's working good but he's already had to send it back once. the top layer on one of the molded fins started to come apart but hyperlite replaced it right away. as far as it's durability in the long run only time is going to tell. |

Wanna hear something funny...
It's the exact same base as last year, and the year prior.

I think that they just made it outta a new material it wont look or feel ne different cause its the same design and shape but it is harder as they say .... but Im not for sure just my opinion _________________ "Worrying is like a rocking chair ... gives you something to do but it doesnt get you any where" Van Wilder |

The premiers that came out early in the year dident have the slider base. Some of them dont have the slider base. There is deffinatly a differance between the slider base and the regualr base. I have a 03 premier without the slider base because i got one as soon as they were out in 02. The newer ones come with the sliderbase, you can tell the differance because the slider base feels sorta sticky when you dig ur finger nails into the bottom of the board. The sldier base is also mad fast on the sliders compared to the regular base. _________________ >-èA§T§ÌDè->RÌdèR-> |

| i have an 03 premier with the jib base and its definetly different. you can dig your fingernail into it. the word is its made from i simaler material as skateboard wheels. as far as performance i havent ridden it yet. but i did build a slider so i cant test it this spring. and i have seen early 03 boards without the jib base, they basically just put the 03 graphics on 02 boards to get them out early. |

They haven't changed the premier shape since it came out. They're just trying to squeeze all they can out of that shape. New slider base, bah.

| The new premiers havent had any change to the shape but the base is defintaely different. Like somebody said before you can dig your finger nail into it, it feels like its some kind of rubber. Its much faster while sliding than the old base that was on the premiers and holds up much better. It looks like its taking alot of damage but it just makes scuffs on the surface which dont affect it. Ive been told that if the base starts to come off you can get something i think called PTEX and apply it to the base and makes it somewhat new again. |

| Tyler, you really need to do your homework before you show your ignorance. I had the hyperlite rep himself explain this to me two weeks ago. "better to keep your mouth shut and be thought to be stupid than to open it and remove all doubt" like you said -- stupid |

| Yea you're right I think Dragon... they put the rods in the DNA to help with the durability of the board and to increase snap off the wake.... |

I'm pretty sure thats what I remember too, the balsa core needs the extra support. I guess thats why they dont call it the "jib its got two stiffener rods inside to keep it from breaking base" |

I have the 02 and 03 Premier. I took my 02 on the sliders and it did just fine until I broke the nose and had to have it resined back together. I wont let my 03 go near them. The 02 is a permanent slider board now.
I did notice that the 03 was a bit slippery...I thought the fins might have something to do with that though. |

Im looking at the Hyperlite cataloge RIGHT now...this is what it says about the Jib base
~Stronger than our pure base
~Available on TDF,Parks,Belmont DNA boards
~Available on all Premier and Byerly boards
~A more controled feel for rifers looking to get their jib on
Now some questions for you...
~How can a coating on the bottom be stronger than the pure base?
~If it is more slippery...how can it have a more controled feel?
BTW...I have a 2003 belmont 131 DNA...so I felt my board...nothing different bout it... |

More durable=stronger
I dont know who said its spippery but its not, its actully rubbery whitch will give the rider more feedback while sliding. pvs against the pure base is ultra slick= no feedback, no control. with a slight amount of resistance the rider will have way more control while on the slider. kind of like snow tires, i know thats a lame comparison but its the only one i could think of right now.
try this I did-- i took my 02 belmont and held it by the tail and way out to my left and set it on the pvc of my slider-- just by gravity it slid all the way to about 10" past bottom( in front of me). i did this with my premier(jib base) and it did not slide at all without me helping it along.
I also have a 6' kicker. again i can set my belmont on the surface and it will slide down. The premier will not
just a little note-- friendly debate is welcome and fun, useless slander is not. |

OK boys listen up here it is:
I e-mailed paul at HL he's the head of product development
Hey Jason,
The jib base is the urethane "rubbey" material on the Premiers and Byerlys.
We also have a different jib base on the bottoms of the Parks/Belmonts/TFD DNA boards which is made out of a nylon material.

Paul, sorry to bother you. I'm in a little debate with a friend about exactly what the new jib base is. I'm prety sure its the rubbery coating on the base of the board, he thinks its refering the the stiffener rods inside the dna boards. can you please lay it out for us in detail I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jason Skovbo |

Ok guys, Im sorry for going off on ya'll...Now I see why I didnt feel a difference...I guess I thought since my bottom wasnt rubbery that it was the stiffener rods, and when I read the comments, it sounded like the stiffener rods...
Im truly sorry and hope there are no hard feelings... You can ask my friends...I call anyone and idiot that doesnt agree with me...I didnt mean you guys were stupid or whatever |
