Is it possible to make decent jumps without a tower on your boat? I have an Obrien Targa board and a stingray 250 cr boat.

Yes. Search on here using the term "wake to wake" or "w2w". You'll find plenty of advice and answers. _________________

Take a gander at the video on the bottom of this page. It will make you realize you don't need towers, special ropes, the newest gear, or even a big wake to be awesome, just practice and pure love for the sport.

I watched a guy do inverts last year w/o a tower. They were quick and low but it was impressive and looked like fun.

I'd say pick up the Book on DVD or iTunes and work on some edging drills. That will help you with your board and body position, and then going w2w will seem pretty easy to do.

The book is an insturctional dvd. Depending on your ability level you could probably get away with buying the first two. I know you may not think that "getting started" would be that useful but it does give you some pointers on your form that you might not have thought of before. However, if you decide to buy 3 get the whole box, Same price.

No. Just trust the advice of your brethren. "The Book" is "the best." Buy the entire set if you can afford it. If you can't, but Volumes 1 and 2. You might find yourself watching Vol. 1 and thinking, "already figured that out" but there is some good info in it. I'm betting most everyone heard something in Vol. 1 they had never heard before anywhere. _________________

I agree with getting "The Book" if you can. Some things I noticed from watching you video that you can work on in the mean time.
1) It seems you greatly favor your heelside edge. You look uncomfortable on your toe-side edge. I also noticed a lot of 1 hand on the handle riding. This usually means you feel uncomfortable on the board and you feel the one hand makes sure you're pointed in the right direction. My advice is to try to keep both hands on the handle at all times if possible. Really work on your toe-side edge - meaning use it. Try to cut all the way across both wakes from side to side over and over again if you can. Use that toe-side edge as much as you can, you'll feel it improve. The Book will teach you great edging drills to try once you buy it.
2) Your line length seems extremely long for your wake shape. The sweet spot of the wake seems to be at least 5' closer to the boat. Consider shortening your rope length. You'll notice the majority of the time when you're by the wake it's all frothy and bubbly and at least once in your video contributed to "swallowing" you up (1:51 in your video). It will also give you a narrower, better shaped wake to jump for your first wake 2 wake attempts.
Out of curiosity - what speed are you riding? Not that you need to change it, whatever you're comfortable with is fine. I'm just curious what you're riding at. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

something else that can help is trimming the back of your boat down some it will force a bigger wake for you to jump and help getting more air and hold your handle low on your hip due to the low pull point it will pull you down some so keep your handle lower and it will help get your board higher out of the water and like bridges said charge harder and keep your edge all the way into the wake flattening out just as you push for your pop off the top of the wake

Thankyou very much. Yeah my arms get tired so I try to altrinate, and when I have only one arm on it is cause I'm trying to use it to go out farther from the boat. I will practice my toe side more. I need to get more practice in.
I tend to go between 18-20 MPH.
Thanks again for your help, I needed it.
