| Apparently SearchTempest no longer functions like it used to. Has anyone found a decent replacement that will search all CL sites within a radius from a zip code? |

Searchtempest still works pretty darn well. They had some trouble last year because CL changed how they deal with data but have since adapted. _________________

What is causing me consternation with Tempest is all of the deleted posts (that don't show up on CL.com) that end up in the search results. It makes me wonder if they are keeping their own database of listings that doesn't get updated very often.
In addition, 1 out of 5 times when I tell it to start a search it never comes back with results, it just sits there "searching". Note that the search criteria used are reasonable (a single search term within a 125 mile radius for instance).
I dunno, maybe this is a good as it gets. |

Owner of searchtempest here. Noticed this in my Google alerts. I just wanted to let you know that this answer in our FAQ should explain the deleted posts and give a couple options to avoid them:
http://www.searchtempest.com/faq.php#deleted
Basically the reason is that the posts come from Google, and Google has no way of knowing immediately when a page disappears.
As for the search randomly not working, that definitely shouldn't happen, and I haven't seen anything similar. These browser debugging tips will likely help: http://www.searchtempest.com/faq.php#noload. If not, please feel free to email me through the contact page and I'll do my best to help. |
