Im looking into getting a new board, Im on a limited budget so it will probably be an 09 model. I need some basic info on flex boards.
I ride cable and boat, I spend the majority of the time on cable. I have a 2007 HL Roam, I love it on the rails but im not crazy about it off kickers (because its too short for me). Behind the boat I ride either a substance or watson. I'd really like to use the new board for both cable and boat. Right now Im really only looking at Slingshot and Company. Here are my questions.
How do the boards hold up on sliders? Im pretty familiar with the LF grind base, so how do the bases for SS and Co compare to it?
Would boards for SS and Co have more or less flex than my HL Roam?
Is there a difference in the amount of flex between SS and Co?
Any other information or advice you want to give would be appreciated.
Thanks for the help. _________________ Bondo saved my wakeboard's life!

I can only compare a roam/covenant and SS response.
The SS will be stiffer than the roam.
SS have a super durable base and will last. |

I don't know how many times we've expressed this exact differing opinion, but...
I Ride a SS Response behind the boat. Never had the pleasure of taking this one to TSR yet. It's great, I really like the style that the SS offers me behind the boat. I rode a Substance before, and I LOVED it, but I feel that my SS offers me a similar, upgraded, range of ride abilities and characteristics. I think mine is an 08? And the 09 has a somewhat beefier mold I believe, also I have never ridden the Roam or a Company board, so I can't really answer the specific questions you answered yet. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

I have changed my position somewhat on flex boards because of the Watson hybrid, but still only for rails. It's a blast on rails, but even off kickers, it still feels like it forms a suction on the water when it lands and spits me out the front a lot. And the pop just still doesn't feel like its all there off the wake. But it sure is fun on rails.
And for the record, I like ragging on SS just because of how twisted people get over it. _________________

Company and Slingshot boards with flex are some of the best on the market. They are alot of fun behind the boat and great on rails.
All these people hating on slingshots behind the boat just think their funny. Most people who have to ask questions about what board to buy are not doing 1080s or moby dick 5s behind the boat and they are looking for a fun board to ride.
Watching Jeff House ride a slingshot behind a boat is amazing. So much pop and kid spins like a top.
And watching shredtown slide raw concrete on a slingshot for months straight with no problems is also pretty amazing to see the board hold up so well.
The flex on rails is amazing. Ive came to believe and preach that if you are not pressed out doing a trick its not coool. you can actually feel the slingshot pressing back on you while your on the rail and can really lockin on presses. I love it and i have been shredding my 2010 reflex into the ground. I would never ride a stiff board ever... _________________ www.alliancewake.com |
