I still got a week and half to go but I really dont wanna pay for another dr.s visit to take them out. Any body got experience with taking out their own stitches? They are on my leg by my shin easy to see and reach. My guess is just cut and pull? Anything I should know _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

Stitches are super easy to take out, just make sure you get them all(count). My wife is a nurse and has removed a few for me over the years....but I wouldn't worry at all about doing it myself....
But for the record, I think they take them out for free(included in the original cost)? When I took a good spill off a loft and had to get a few sets on my face, the nurse gave me the removal kit saying I had paid for it and knowing that I wouldn't be back(was leaving back home the next morning). We were talking flyfishing(why I was in Durango) and he said there were some usable instruments in the kit. |

After getting numerous stitches from playing hockey, I always take my own stitches out. I use a nail clipper to cut the knot, and then use tweezers to pull our the thread.
Definitely not a big deal, especially in your leg. |

STPHNSN23,
ontrider, He's usually pretty busy, but I did mention it to him.
E.J., Went to an urgent care center which reuires a fee upfront regardless if you see the dr. or not so I dont think its included. I figured they wouldnt be that hard and you reassured my thoughts. When your wife removed a stitch did she pull it out vertically or horizontally from the skin? _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

there is no reason to drive down to ft myers to take out a few stitches. sorry that there are actually people on here who ride together. i know that's a pretty rare thing over here in non-wake.
shaggy, i didn't actually think you were serious when you asked me to take out your stitches . i'll tell you how to do it the day they need to come out, but you really should probably goto the doc for it just to check on the wound and make sure it is healing properly. otherwise all you do you is snip them with essentially a toenail scissor and pull them out with some tweezers. it is pretty much the easiest thing to do in the world. the doc is just going to look at it and then the nurse will probably take them out. at least this is giving time for your shoulder to heal. _________________ Liquid Force

From when I've had stitches removed I remember them using a tweezer like device to hold onto the knot while slightly pulling up. Then would then just clip one side and pull the material right out.
When I had to go to the ER to get mine removed(head/work injury) I just walked right in and they took them out in like 5 minutes(took 2 hours to put them(3) in) and I didn't have to pay anything. _________________ RIP DLS.

Stand when you pee. Remove your own stitches. If you're core, you'll do it at a bar a week before they're supposed to come out. _________________

That would be as good as cash at a emo/goth bar. You're welcome. _________________
