I know everyone loves trex but I have to say, I prefer hitting sliders with PVC sheeting 10x more. I've hit the rails at the projects and now ride mccormicks and no matter how "wet" they get, PVC slides so much better. Even when the trex is as wet as it can bet, it is still super sticky. Yesterday at McCormicks, I was on my second set just getting warmed up, and go to back lip down the back end of the aframe, got stuck on the transition when I went to pop off of it, and litterally "back" lipped the aframe with my back. I have a nice cement scrape looking scratch down half of my back in with a physical line in between it from the rail divisions and man is it sore today. The huge spine on my board definitely doesn't help the situation when transferring edges on rails but this was 90% me just sticking to the top of the rail.
So what's your take on rail material? I think people like trex because it just looks more legit but in reality, our boards I don't think are made for that material as much as they are PVC. It isn't like it is even metal. It's just recycled plastic compressed together with a rough surface. Why not just use plastic with a smooth surface? Snowboard and skate rails aren't rough and in snowboarding (similar bases to wakeboarding) they only use a metal rail if it is a legit one piece rail, not multiple pieces to add width. If they want a wider surface they just use platic sheeting. It isn't a price thing because trex is expensive, but I would say it is easier to work with when it comes to sinking screws, and adjusting the size, but still is better off being used for docks instead of sliders. _________________ Liquid Force
