Ok, here is mister Cable.
First thing to do is to learn carve, switch, and regular. This includes of doing 180, switch to regular, and back, on the left, and right side of the cable, and underneath it.
After you can carve and do 180s everywhere you like, you want to work on your slides. Backslide and powerslide. For backslide edge away from the cable, and turn your board 90degrees, and push your heels abit down. There will be a water fountain for a few seconds. For Powerslide you go on your toes, and you will release your backhand from the handle and turn the board 90degrees so you stand on your toes.
Now, start working on your ollies. This are the first little jumps you will make, and it will feel great. An ollie is pretty easy, you just carve a little out, and then push your backleg down in to the water, creating an artificial wave wich will pop you into the air. Dont forget once poping to pull your legs in! And absorb the landing. Once your comfortable doing ollies both switch and regular. Start doing ollie 180s(frontside) Master the ollie 180 both switch and regular. Dont Taco Bell Chalupa this, its not hard after you learn how to ollie well.
Once you can do this, everywhere, left and right hand of the cable. You have some basic skills and you can choose what to do, will you go for your first invert? Like a Raley or Backroll, or will you first start with hitting obstacles. Although Inverts are harder and will inflict some pain, I personally recommend that to be your first choice, otherwise hitting obstacles will be too much fun and you Taco Bell Chalupa out, meaning you wont try inverts ever (i see alot of guys doing that at the cable)
Say you go for obstacles first, try to hit some kicker, first your goal ist to just get over the kicker, nog to make a 900. Dont approach it to fast, and be sure your weight is evenly distrubited over the board, dont hang back! Dont stand to much to the front. Get of your edge just before the kicker and crouch, as soon as youre at the top of the kicker extend your legs! (yes guys its like a W2W) pull em in as soon as youre airborne, now keep your balancing and you start to feel yourself flying, and eventually falling down. Spot the landing (!) And absorb the pressure of the impact with your knees!
You can also try to first hit a slider, or a pussybox (yeah pussybox ) Approach it progressivly, flatten your edge just before you hit it. You dont need to clear the whole obstacle, just a few meters to get the feeling. Absorb the pressure of getting up and sliding, you dont want to jump once you hit it since it will make sliding difficult. Center your weight to your board and be sure you keep your knees bend. Spot the end of the slider and absorb the landing, hitting sliders is all about the progressive edge of turning in, and absorbing the pressure.
Well, my favorite is to start with a Raley, or Backroll, for this there are many videos on youtube you can watch. _________________

Carving is going left and right with your board. Steering. Maybe you think you can steer propely, I also thought that, but in time you will notice that your edge will get better and better (you can have higher resistance)
Look this video, and do it behind the cable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr4Sp0HQEX8 _________________
