I'm heading to the outer banks the last couple of day in August and the first couple of days of Sep just before the long weekend.
Doing some research and it looks like kiteboarding is one of the things to do out there. Has anyone kite boarded there or taken lessons?
I have a trainer kite and I took a couple of lessons when I was in Honduras last year. I can fly the kite, body drag ect ect. I got up and rode a bit, more Chili dipping is that the right term? then anything.
I'd like to take a couple more lessons in the Calgary area this summer and then try it again. Any suggestions for contacts out there would be great

I'm trying to find out where this rental place is exactly. Not sure how far it would be to any of the kiteboarding places. I'll ask the realkiteboaring.com guys as well to see if they know.
Thanks for the link and if you have any info on the area that would be great _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

I was in Austalia a couple weeks ago and took some lessions. Since then I have been checking out the local scene trying to decide if it is something that I want to pursue. _________________ TRACTOR WAKESKATES

heymiller, how's it going these days?
These guys are out of Regina? or are they around these parts as well?
I bought my trainer kite from http://www.calgarykiteboarding.com/
Jeff sells kites and all the gear. Does lessons as well I believe so I'll be probably taking some lessons this summer. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

Hey- If you are coming to the Outer Banks -are into wakeboarding -you have got to kiteboard! The house link you posted is a bit of a drive to the best spots. Hatteras Island is about an hour south of Southern shores. Hatteras has tons of housing options-the best kiteboarding most consistent winds and surfing. August is traditionally the weakest month for wind- but it can also be epic for wind and waves if we get storms. And - you can always wakeboard if no wind.
check out our site for kiteboarding info. www.outerbankskiting.com
links to all the major house rental agencys and some other lodging options can be found on our other services page.
We have had quite a few wakeboarders in our program recently- and they progress rapidly from newbies to riding aggresively -tricks really fast.

Thanks OBK
unfortunately my family rented a place up at southern shores already. From the research I've done it sounds like renting south would have been better for what I wanted to do. My whole family will be down there so had to have something for everyone and everyone meaning 6 months old to my parents of 70.
I wouldn't mind driving down that far at least once but I don't want to drive that every day while I'm out there. Is there anything else up in that neck of the woods? _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |
