Hey guys, I've been wakeboarding a couple times back home and over there the boat rental place has a wakeboard for me to use. Looking to do some riding in uni too and they charge me for rental gear so I thought I might invest in some of my own.
I used the link in the sticky and it suggested last years 09 CWB Kink as the only board, so I was wondering if you guys had any other suggestions. Just a few things about me: 5'7, 145 lbs. On the board finder I picked a neutral smooth ride. I just want a board that has a smooth ride, I do like to catch some air but I don't see myself as an aggressive technical rider, also looking to do some rails and boxes. I come from a snowboarding background so getting up on the board, edging and getting some pop was quite familiar to me. Anybody got any suggestions of which boards? And also.. what is the difference between a advanced model and beginner board? I thought the style of riding rather than the ability level affected the type of board more?
Thanks for any help! |

How old are you? this will play a factor as in what size board to get, if your still growing I would suggest a slightly larger board, but with your weight and height I would reccomend anything from a 136-138. When they put skill levels on boards its mostly for advertising, but some board shapes are easier to ride. I am not a big cwb fan although they make a decent product, I would reccomend hyperlite, liquid force, or ronix. _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

| Thanks for the reply! I'm 20 now so I've pretty stopped growing a while ago =(. Anyway, since my last book, I got 'The Book' and watched some vids on youtube from the house which pretty much explains all the different designs (shapes, fins, channels etc.) and gives you a better idea of how a board should function base on what's built into it. Obviously it's better to be able to demo a board but that's not always an option, so I would recommend anybody who's looking to understand more about those features to have a look at those vids. Haven't decided on a board myself yet as cost comes into play too. |
