Is your buddy Ronnie riding with a CTI brace? How does he like it? And does he have issues with it coming loose in the water? Thanks man sorry for getting off subject. _________________ Whenever I see an $80,000 Wakesetter pulling a tuber, I die a little inside. |

Hey its Ronnie, yeah thats a CTI brace. I do have a few issues with it in the water, but i got an additional strap that is thicker and made out of neoprene that goes on the top of my calf.
I find that it slides a bit if you don't have it adjusted just so because impacts and gravity seem to drop it. Overall it protects your knees since i have a "completely disrupted ACL", but it won't protect it from impact or any jarring movements. _________________ I wakebaord, wakeskate,do anythign stupid, hurt others and have fun doign it. |

Ronnie thanks for responding...I also have a completely torn ACL!
My doctor didn't want to prescribe me the CTI because it "was uncomfortable" for HIM. Instead he wants me to get the DonJoy Defiant. But I'm heasitant because EVERYBODY who wakeboards uses the CTI. I've heard that the Donjoy velcro straps have issues with the water as well but if you install snaps to the straps they stay pretty well.
Did CTI make/sell/give whatever the extra strap for you? Of did you have to make it yourself? Once you have it adjusted just right does it seem to stay in place then?
Did you have surgery to fix your ACL? or are you riding with it gone?
Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to figure out what way to go.
Thanks

Hi Ryan,
I don't mind my CTI if I am about and moving. The only discomfort i have gotten with it is if your sitting down (the straps dig in.. which is a bit of a given)
I've never used another kind of brace, but the straps are alright for water. I used it extensively this summer, working out and its made two trips to Mexico.
When you get the pads moist it seems to stay on better. The strap I got from a local place - where i got my brace and that was about $20 Cdn. It jsut velcros on and the specialist made a couple quick pads where my old one used to fit.
Usually I get it wet, and put it on my leg on the stern covers. The trick is to keep your leg dead straight and make sure the strap thats right below your knee is right on top of your calf muscle. That strap is to be the tightest and the others just snug. If it slips then that meant that the lowest strap is too tight, which forces the brace down.
I tore my ACL a year and a half ago, but I rode this summer without a reparation. I go on Wed for my operation, but depending on what they find it should be interesting. Riding with it worked well, jsut impacts that jarred my knee hurt or if i rode 3 days in a row. If it gets tired stop, or go surfing only the next day.
I sometimes forgot my brace to go ride, but if I was careful and not being a dumby wumby it was okay, but that is because I did a shitload of working out in the spring when I was at BCIT. Also remember, if you have a nice boat.. you could scratch the gellcoat so you have to watch.
If you have more questions fire me a PM. _________________ I wakebaord, wakeskate,do anythign stupid, hurt others and have fun doign it. |

No the videos were filmed in Port Alberni at Sproat lake. Nanaimo has few 'ponds,' but they are gong shows and not nearly as clean. _________________ I wakebaord, wakeskate,do anythign stupid, hurt others and have fun doign it. |
