Does anyone on here have any cigar boxes?

I need a cigar box.

I'm going to make a cigar box guitar, they really interesting instruments, and I would like to broaden my range. Unfortunately no one in my family smokes cigars, and I don't really know anywhere to get one.

A lot of cigar shops have extra ones that they will either give away or sell for $1. You might want to check with them if no one can help you here. I would help you out, but I just moved and ended up trashing quite a few of them.

I'll keep you guys posted with this one, because I'm going to be making everything by hand down to the pickups.

First one will probably be fretless due to lack of money for a fret saw and fret wire.

You can purchase them on ebay for very cheap.


I have made cigar box purses and had good experiences buying from ebay.

So today I got:

2 cigar boxes: $6
8 feet of 2''x1'' maple for the fretboard (its a good cut too): $8
Gallon of colonial maple wood finish: $.60
A couple screws for the nut and bridge: $2.00
Soldering Iron: $10

total so far: $26.60

And I have well enough for 2 guitars at this point

Tuners
Strings, 3 per guitar (i've only seen them sold in full sets of 6 though)
maybe something metal for a resonator.
