what is the best way? i did a search http://forums.wakeboarder.com/search.php?search_id=450025229&start=50 and came up with nothing. i only want to pay for a program if it will do video as well, and works flawlessly. this is my first ipod, and bought it second hand so i dont have any books, or software. i did download itunes, but i dont want to hook my ipod to my computer and loose the 10gigs of music, and 15 gigs of movies that came on it.

I used the program called Copytrans. It took everything(videos, playlists, music, etc.) I had off of my ipod and imported it directly into itunes. I paid the extra $20 for it.

there is where the problem lies. once you sync with Itunes your Ipod will be registered as the previous owners and I believe you will have to have his or her password to log in and sync your ipod

FYI, you can turn the updater off.

Jester, i think he's referring to the fact that apple is always updating their software so every time you sync up it tells you there is a new version available

Yea, but that's how Apple designed the software, not Microsoft, right?

At any rate, I agree that that stuff is really annoying, that's why I turned it off.

The one thing I can't stand about itunes is the program updating. Why do they make you redownload the whole damn program? Can't they just do a incremental patch for the update?

I remember when I got my new computer I someone how copy and pasted all my ipod files onto my computer.

When you plug your ipod go into my computer then right click your ipod and hit explore. Then check off show hidden files, and I think you can just click and drag them. That's just from what I remember, there is probably more steps.

Here is how I did it when my hard drive crashed with all of my music. I can't find the site where I actually used but this is essentially the same thing. No need to buy a program.......
