anyone else have plans ruined this weekend?

i was supposed to be going to nyc tomorrow and monday to see christmas stuff. obviously, that's not happening with a foot of snow forecast for today, tonight, and tomorrow am. i'm not too upset, but my mom is as it's her birthday trip that we go on every year. luckily, we were flying on her pass so we didn't have paid-for plane tickets, and our hotel rooms have been canceled with no charge. the one bummer is we were going to burn a tavern on the green gift certificate that will be wasted once the new year starts as TotG lost their lease and will be closing.

We got a little slush, our lake house got a foot, Blacksburg got over a foot, and snowshoe is around 30" and counting. Wish I could have been at any of the later 3 places for it, but at least snowshoe is building that base for my january trip.

I was hiking a section of the AT in the roan mountain area and woke up to a snow storm on friday which was fun hiking out in but cut the trip short which was kind of a bummer. Trying to get to Georgia I was stuck in stand still traffic from 7 pm until 6 am.

I am furious that the storm ended up going south of me, the 12"+ that was supposed to jump start my snowboarding season got wasted on teh coastal areas of the upper NE. I went to bed expecting to have to shovel/snowblow about 2-3 times and woke up at 5 am to find not even 3".

This def wasn't a noreaster

atleast I don't think so. North carolina was getting snow saturday morning at 2 am, and NEPA didn't get any until mid afternoon saturday.

Where I'm living in MD got 2 feet of snow, we only had like 3 inches when I was still up in PA this afternoon Crying or Very sad

around here, if a northeast wind floods the town we consider it a nor'easter

Actually decided to stay in NYC this weekend to try and do some flying, and glad I did! The news last night said there were nearly 12 THOUSAND flights cancelled in the tri-state area due to what was being considered a "historic storm". Was actually clomping around Manhattan when it hit, then drove up to White Plains in the middle of it (Sat. night) and Sunday was unlimited visibilty for my flying lesson out of Allentown...which made for some pretty severe bumps, but otherwise was a gorgeous trek across upstate NY, NJ and PA, down the Hudson, watching the sunset behind NYC, then turning around and puttering around the city by night and seeing the whole shebang covered in snow. Unreal! Glad I decided not to leave!

i just got back from a clusterfvck day of travel. i guess a bunch of flights from LGA to dayton cancelled yesterday so there was no way we were flying out of LGA today. we took the train to philly this morning hoping to get on a flight to dayton from there. ended up flying into indianapolis, and my dad picked us up and drove us to dayton int'l to pick up cars. the rest of the fam is driving 3 hours back home, but my gf and i only had the 15 minute drive to our apartment.

i have a sore butt from sitting all day and sore legs from walking in boots all day yesterday. we saw almost everything we wanted to see in NY and saw the liberty bell and went to jim's steaks in philly. my brother wore his colts gear in philly without getting anything thrown at him. it was a fun, quick trip, but i feel like i need a vacation now after the stressful day today.

Got 11inches here! Was definitely NOT what I wanted after being in Florida since August.

Had friends fly in from North Carolina on Friday and they left today. Took them around NYC on Sunday and Monday - was very snowy and chilly, but good!
