My friend called me, told me a local shop is having a 50% off sale on 2009 bikes. I have been thinking buying a new triathlon bike anyways.

I basically needed the right size, intermediate level bike that will last me 5+ years. I race 'age group' and I don't plan on being an elite racer so I didn't the most top of the line bike. [Mine old bike is a little small, it's a roadbike retrofittd with aero bars and is from 1986.]

Soooo...I left work, went over to the shop and picked up their last tri bike, it was my size (58cm), and got it for 50% off.

That's the truth. But it's fun, my buddies and I ride together sometimes.

Can't beat 50% off. I have been putting offf the bike purchase but I couldn't pass this deal up.

I dropped a lot of money on my road bike and can't justify a tri bike yet. I figure I'll reward myself if I can average 23 mph in the 40K of an Olympic distance next season. Not hard if that's all your doing but in a race after the swim and before the run it's a goal of mine.

That's really fast. I'm new into biking and racing. At my first tri (sprint) I only averaged 16.7 mph on the 17 mile course. I'm training for 1 Olympic, 1 Sprint, and a Biathlon this year.

I've been riding for a while and do a few metric centuries a summer. Not to mention I have Wednesday night group that really pushes me. I think the group rides really improved my skill and speed this last year. Might enter a crit but am a bit apprehensive of crashing.

That's good that you have some support like that. I should join a riding club...and a swimming club...and a running club for that matter.

You need one of each... Actually I just have a mtn, road and beach cruiser. I kind of want a fixie/singlespeed but it might be too hipster for me. But my mtn bike is ancient at this point.
