Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a new boat and I have a couple questions about mastercraft. First is, what's the difference between all of the X-series boats, besides the size of the boat. Mainly in regards to wake I suppose. Second, by buying a Prostar and weighing it correctly and adding a tower, can you get a wake comparable to an X-star...close not exact?
Thx, Ben |

1. The X-Star/X-2, X-30 and X-10 are all V-Drive boats. The X-10 and X-30 are based on the Maristar hull and layout. The X-7 and X-9 are based on the Prostar 197 and 209. These are Direct Drives. They are essentially cross-over boats that can be used for hardcore skiing and wakeboarding. There was also an X-5 made previously which was essentially a prostar 190 with a wakeboard package.
2. It depends on which prostar. We use a '99 Prostar 205 (predecessor to the 209). The '99 Prostar 205 is essentially the same hull as the modern day X-2, but in a Direct drive configuration. To get a comparable wake to say an '02 X-2 with stock ballast, you need weight. A 500lb in the trunk, 2 500lb sacks on each side of the motor and about 400 in the bow will get you alomst there. However, you can get a Prostar 205V which is the same boat as the X-2 without the wakeboard package, add a tower, ballast, etc and you have an X-2. Confused yet
I don't have much experience with the X-10 or X-30. I have been in newer Maristar 210's and 230's. The boats were super nice, but the wake just isn't the same as the X-2.
Hope this helps. _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

| benvh, I ride behind a ProStar 205V all the time and it is basically a budget X-Star. A great choice if you ask me. NAW hit the nail on the head with the descriptions. |
