So as a member of the Student-Athlete Adivicement Coucil (SAAC) at Southern Miss I am starting a new event. I'm sure school have a "Military Appreciation Day" but this fall at one of the football games we are going to go above and beyond. Camp Shelby is a big training base just south of Hattiesburg, which makes us a big military town. So here's where I need wb.com, we need some ideas. So far we have:
1) Getting all of the Athletes to sign a banner that says "Thank you for protecting out freedoms and allowing us to play our sports" and presenting it to whoever is in charge of Camp Shelby at half time.
2) A fly over
3) Discounted tickets to the military.
4) Camo T-shirts. One the front they'd have the eagle head and on the back it would say "thank you" across the top of the back w/ symbols of each branch on the back. (This is just an idea on the design)
5) When the football team runs out, they would all have little american flags and give them to the military who would be lining the area where they run out.
6) Going down to Camp Shelby during the fall semester and give clinics of have competitions with the military.
7) A short video for half time.
I have 3 goals for this year: Academic All-American, making out first regional appearance as a team, and making sure that this military day goes through. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make this happen as a way of saying thank you. Sure there are a lot of people saying "hey we don't need to be in this war," but we should still thank those who have served their time. If it were not for our military we would not be the country we are today. Please let me know if you think these ideas are good, bad, or if you have any others that might work. We, SAAC, will listen to what anyone has to say. _________________

| That's awesome! Glad to see you are getting involved both with collegiate activities and supporting the troops. Shirts are looking good too. Hope everything goes well. |
