I have an 08 Maxum with a sun desk and it is built as the engine cover. Everything is fiberglass for me. I'll try and get some piks for you though.

sending the boat out to have the floor replaced. they will be pullin old floor up, and puttin new down. i will have the task of sealing the top side (their going to do the underside) they say it should take 2 weeks to do it. they will be contacting me if they find anything questionable. i thought it was a good deal for 800$. pics to come when i get it back!

well, i decided against having someone else do the floor for me. started the tear out tonight. found out that bayliner has some crappy ideas of enclosing wood with glass. so i will be fixing all of their bad mistakes.
right now im using a 4" scraper and a 7 1/2" circular saw, and a pry bar.
okie, have ideas to get the floor up faster?? its a pita with how far i got so far. how close can i get to the sides of the boat before i start to cut into/ a hole in the hull? and how do you get the wood to seperate from the foam without tearin the foam all up??
found out that the prices for 5/8" ext plywood is only 22$ a sheet. shouldnt cost to much when im done. im guessin around 1300 for the whole floor with carpet. will post up pics when i get more out.

I replaced the floor of my bayliner 1401 this summer before I sold it. Unlike the situation that you are describing, the rot was so bad that I basically only had to use a pry bar and an angle grinder. I basically just stomped on the floor/hit with a hammer until I broke through the plywood floor, then carefully went in both directions until I found the stringers, then ripped out everything in between.
As far as hitting the hull, there was a secondary stringer (a very small ridge) right at the point where the plywood met the edge of the interior of the hull, and to be honest, I did damage it a little bit. You've just gotta be careful.
How's the foam look under the plywood? If it's totally soaked through and moldy like mine was you're probably better off ripping it up and starting over.
Edit: My one word of advice to you: Make the boat exactly how you want it, being a bayliner the chances of you getting back even a small portion of what you invested in the repairs is slim to none.

Angle grinder, sawzall, circular saw will all work. My floor was easy to get up because it was so rotted compared to what you are talking about. You have to be the judge of where you will cut into the outer hull based on what you see. I used the sawzall the most and just angled it so it just barely cut deep enough to cut the fiberglass. You can cut near but not to areas to see where things are at too. Just take your time and be patient about it.
As far as the wood seperating from the foam without tearing up the foam, do you mean lifting the plywood without pulling up foam or are you talking about supports or secondary stringer type wood? I agree on the statement with the foam...if it is saturated or moldy, take it out and replace it. Using an air chisel seems to work well for the foam.
I'm concerned about your plywood statement. I'm assuming the wood would be for your floor? If so, get marine grade...don't mess around with basic exterior or even just treated. Make sure you coat it in CPES and epoxy / glass it in well to ensure it is sealed and waterproof.

the only difference between the marine grade, and the exterior is the marine is filled. ie, the knot holes are filled with a wood putty, and the exterior is not. and at 1/4 the cost, i can fill my own knot holes with pb. (mix of micro glass beads, and resin) that and i will be completely encapsulating the wood with about 3 layers of 4 oz mat and resin. contemplating making the carpet snap out.

You sure about that? I thought marine grade plywood used a lot denser wood chip mixture and went through extra compression. I think that's what makes the "void" smaller... not just filling.

i checked with the local lumber yard. who knows tho, they could be wrong. but thats what im going with. its about 1/4 of the cost, and if you coat it on all sides with resin before you install it, you wont have to worry about it.

From the research I've done, the main difference is the glue. Marine grade plywood uses waterproof glue and non-marine does not. So, when the wood get's moist, the marine grade plys won't seperate like the non-marine would. Being on the water most of the time and temperate variations subject the wood to moisture. It works better to use something that is meant to handle it.
You could use the non-marine plywood...just be prepared to do your floor again in a shorter period of time than using marine grade. You might look at overall costs when you figure it all out. You could spend $100-200 more right now on the wood and not have to do it again for 10-20 years. Or you could spend $25-100 on wood right now and do it again in a few years. Factor in the cost of the glass and epoxy, which far exceeds the wood, plus the time and effort doing it again, and it doesn't seem worth it just to save $100 or so.

been slacking on the progress. but i have the hull prepped and ready for the wood. just have to vacume up the glass dust, and clean it really good. im going to be picking all the wood up this week for the floor. 2 sheets of 3/4, and a sheet of 1/4, an 8' stick of 2x to hold the tank in again and brace the floor better, along with most of the glass and resin. i need to get this thing rolling of i want to use it in April, that and i have another project to start when it leaves the garage. im going to be building either a ralley car (escort based), or a kit car (still not sure to do either a 23t or a rear engine roadster) But either way, i have to get a move on with the boat or it will be july before i get the boat wet.

got the floor in, going to pick up the resin to glass the floor in. ordered the carpet, the seats, and the tower. i went with a captains chair, with a back to back seat for the passenger side for now. doing the wrap around seating is just to much of a project for me right now. (it was either that or the tower) the tower should be here tommorow. and the seats and carpet should be here this weekend, or early next week.

just got the first wave of stuff in for the boat. i got the tower, racks, mirror, and the glue for the carpet. my fedex guy is going to hate me on tuesday. i have 2 seats, and a seat base, 2 packages of fiberglass resin, fiberglass rollers, fiberglass bubble filler, a roll of 20 oz carpet, some headers and a high flow cat for a buddies truck, a wakeboard package for the wife, and some plug wires, im going to be going on sunday to get the rest of the plywood to finish the floor. then hopefully it will be smooth sailing till i get the bill from the machine shop for the motor. ($$$$$$$$$)
o, and by the way, i couldnt wait to set up the tower. even if its in my living room around my couch at the moment. looks kinda cool!

That tower looks pretty good. It looks a lot like the Aerial tower I bought.

i got a captains seat for the driver, and a back to back lounger for the passangers. next winter i will be building wrap around seats for it. its just not in the budget for me right now. i got them from www.veada.com just ordered the ones that were on discount to save on money. i will be re doing the drivers seat and selling the lounger next winter.

sorry about the delay in the pics. here is some to tide you over. i started glassing in the floor today. i coated all the wood in a kilz water sealer. where the fiberglass would lay, i ground it off with a 60 grit flap wheel. then i lay'd down 3 layers of 1.5oz mat. when i get the whole floor done, i will be covering the whole floor with an epoxy paint, then laying down the carpet. im so close i can feel the waves hit the sides of the boat!
then this afternoon, i decided to tear down the old engine. looked great, except for the cracks in the side of the block. the new block is at the machine shop getting machined. when i get that back, the buildup of the motor shouldnt take more than a couple of weeks.

got board today waiting for a load headed to southern cali, so i decided to put the tower on. (without the help of my friends who said they would help) it was really simple. its almost like the mounts were made for this boat. let me know what you think of it.

Looks great, like it was made for the boat! Does it fit back in the garage with it folded down or are you going to have to take it off all the way?

if the weather cooperates this weekend i will be putting the last layer of fiberglass mat down on the floor. as soon as the glass cures out i will be putting the carpet down. the engine compartment frame will be back from the powdercoater on friday. the interior will start looking more like a boat come next week. im getting excited!
