I bought a pair for my g/f a couple of years ago. The over the ear style. They are amazingly awesome!!! I have never tried another brand so I don't know if there is something equally effective for less. However, these things are amazing if you travel much or just want a really good sound when listening to headphones |

Thanks, Your Dudeness... Duder... El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing.
I bought a pair of QC15s yesterday. Most excellent! |

Most excellent indeed. Worked so well drowning out tractor, lawn mowing, plane noises I experimented with them on our weekend road trips. I'm not kidding when I say I couldn't hear my wife or kids for hours on end. I've misplaced them for about nine months though. Careful not to abuse the silence is golden around the wife is my only caution. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

EVERYTHING sounds great on these. No matter what you listen to you will be so impressed and happy. Next to my ipod best media device i've ever bought.

Totally agree - I have had a couple of pairs of them and will always get them in the future. they are hands down the greatest thing on a flight, and work so well to just tune EVERYTHING around you out. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

I had heard that Sony has a pair that supposedly rivals the QC15s. I'm not a big Sony fan, so I went with Bose. Very, very cool. I did not hear the fussy baby in the row ahead of me for an entire 2.5 hour flight! That alone was well worth the $300 bones.
The only thing I don't like: The headphones have to be turned on to listen to music. If you don't have a spare battery handy, you can't just use them as "regular" headphones. No big deal - I just keep a spare battery in the carrying case.

I bought an el cheapo pair of JVC noise cancelling headphones a while back.
They work just fine for me. I'm sure they are nothing like the Blose stuff, but they cut down significantly on ambient noise and all but eliminate the background roar of the plane. $29.99 at Sears of all places. _________________

chavez, I'm shopping around now. Are you still happy with the JVC headphones? _________________

I bought a pair Koss headphones similar to the cheapie JVC's that got me through law school in the library. Freaking awesome to have. I'm sure the Bose model is nice and all, but I'm not convinced that you have to go to those lengths to get what you're looking for. _________________

I have the original Bose Quiet Comfort ones (over the ear, on/off switch on the cord, don't fold) and have had them for many years now.
They are excellent for......
1. Airplanes. The noise cancellation of crowd noise and air vent noise is amazing.
2. Kids and small houses. If you have young kids and like to watch loud movies with explosions and cursing, the sound quality is great. |

Well I bought this pair of Phillips over-the-ear NC headphones. Flying to Newark tomorrow; I'll report back how they work on the plane.

The Phillips phones work well; I'd say they're worth the ~$115 I paid for them. They drown out white background noise really well but I was surprised how many voices get through them. I guess they're designed to do that, but I really want noise cancellation for PEOPLE while I'm on the plane and in the airport. I do a lot of reading when I travel and would like to drown out everyone's voice and the TV stations they have blaring in the terminals. _________________

How do I hook up my wireless headphones to a TV with no headphone jack? Thanks for the previous information. I checked my TV for a headphone jack and there isn't one. My question now is how or is it possible to hook it up without an output jack?

Assuming you are using a cable box or a DVD/Bluray player and not just a TV, you should be able to get an output source from there. |
