Check out how bad my day just got...sadly enough, I'm a 26 year old guy almost in tears here.
I really don't know if wakeboarding was the cause of it. But, based on something I read on the web of different kinds of back pains, the kind I have leads itself more toward a herniated disk in my back. This means that my wakeboarding season is probably over before it even started. Well, I have a brand new board and bindings sitting here that I'd have to have to return.
I'm going to see a doctor later this week, and if it is a herniated disk, there's not much more I can do but sit on my butt and watch everyone else wakeboard and not me.
Like I said, brand new board...never been ridden, but I may just have to return it or sell it to someone

Man, that really blows, I can only begin to imagine the pain you are feeling, man if I couldn't wakeboard I don't know what I'd do, good luck to you bro, hopefully it isn't that bad and you'll be back out there, good luck man _________________ Wide-A-Wake Board Sports

Thanks for the kind words. Actually, it's not a bad pain. It's just annoying. But, the way the pain is moving down my leg lends itself more to a herniated disk than to anything else. There's a possibility wakeboarding might not affect it at all. If I'm careful, I may be able to board for the rest of the season. But, I'm taking a pretty big chance by doing that. I could REALLY REALLY hurt myself if I don't watch it.
I just don't know what to do right now...guess I should just wait for the doctor

I picked up the game at launch (I'm a VERY BIG TIME gamer). Wakeboarding videos would be cool. But, right now, I'm getting a HUGE great deal on a board. it's almost worth it to buy it this year...even if I can't go until Sept.
I'm getting a BRAND NEW 2003 Hyperlite Belmont Biolite 141 with BRAND NEW 2003 Hyperlite Byerly Bindings for $560 total.

wakeboarder,
I have to agree...and yes, I should be able to ride in the boat. Only problem is that I was gonna be a third anyway.

timmy,
How long did it take her to heal? I wonder if I can get my insurance to pay for it.

| well my mom is much older than you so the healing time is different. but she went from hardly being able to walk due to the disk to doing everything she was doing before, in a couple months. you could probably look into (google) low impact back muscle strength exercises and start that now, she does them twice a day. this includes abs exercises. basically she went to the PT for a couple weeks while they showed her how to do the exercises. so it is only a few visits. she recently went to a PT again and got some improved exercises. i can't tell you what exactly they are because I don't do them. hehe |

FlipsideE, I just re-agrivated my back last night doing a w2w toeside very frustrating since I sprained my foot a month ago. I'm 24 and I've had problems since I was a soph. in High School. It took until my fresh. year in college to get it properly diagnosed as a bulging disk. Like timmy said go to an orthapedic specilist, don't go to a chiropractor. Don't get me wrong Chiro's are great for some things, but a orthapedic percribed tough PT program for me. It finally worked, I just have to make sure that I stretch and workout on a regular basis (which I haven't been doing). My back tells me when I'm not treating it right. Good luck, hopefully it isn't a herniated disk and you'll be back on the water. _________________ Don't look at me in that tone! |
