Today is officially the first day of grad classes for me. Pray that this pencil skirt doesn't rip like the other one did a few months ago...

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Your avatar would indicate that you have not been a little kid for quite some time. HAHA.

Good luck w/school. Not to be a downer, but I hate it. On the plus side, I think I remember you saying you were in a Master's program? It took me 3 or 4 years to realize how much I hate it, you should be out before then.

camera - but not an undergrad anymore! need to be sophisticated now. avatar should probably go too, now that i have graduated and all....

chad h - careful sir. i have QUITE the drunken voicemail from you from a few weeks ago that is saved. do i need to forward that on to other people?

jester - yeah, masters program here. it's going to be miserable, but i have to do that and eventually get my phd. i love school (dork? yup, i think so). sucks that you hated it so much... was it your program? the people?

I would bank almost everyone on here prays your skirt does in fact rip, and there is a camera rolling.

Aubs,
I don't know what you're talking about, but I also at the same time do know, so let's just say you never need to post pics if you don't want to.

YOU CAN FORWARD VOICEMAILS? Crap. Crap. Crap. That's literally the worst news I've heard in a long time. I'm good for a few winners a weeks to the one that got away Laughing

Little bit of both. I should elaborate that I loved grad school for the first part, it's just been the last two years that I've been miserable.

Most of the people I work with are cool, but there's been 3 or 4 complete douchebags that ruined it and made it infuriating to share office/lab space. I also got tired of the profs, too many Harvard sized egos without the Harvard sized accomplishments. I overlooked it for the first couple years, but after that it just got monotonous and silly to listen to. But as I hear more & more stories from people at different schools I realize that this is completely common (at least in organic chemistry).

Your Master's will be challenging, but it'll be your steepest learning curve so if you like learning you'll value this part maybe the most. The Ph.D part is where things begin to really drag and get miserable 'cuz it seems like it'll never end. You sound motivated, so I think you're gonna be fine.

JV - Can record it, save it as a voicenote, and send to other people.

Jester - I'll survive - have no choice but to survive to be honest. Most of the professors that I am working with attended great schools, and they seem to be great so far. My favorite professor from UCONN knows a few of them, so if he says they know what they're talking about, I believe him 100%. There are almost a dozen of us TA's in the history department all crammed into one little room. I'm sure that will get old quick. My apartment is thankfully only a 4min drive from campus (including traffic) so I have an escape.

Aubs, I'm feeling the pain of not being a kid. I started my first "real" job today. 730 - 4 M-F is way different from class at noon and then workin till 1am. But none the less I'm rather pumped to have landed this job with the economy the way it is, though had I not I would probably be headed back to classes like you. Good luck with your semester!

Aubs...ya know what, we all miss being a kid once in a while. But truly, the best years are ahead of you. Nothing like being older and settled and reaching the goals you set for yourself, and being able to sit back a little and enjoy the spoils.

Good luck!

I hated grad school when I started working on my M.S. in Comp Engineering, but ended up loving it enough that I stayed an extra while to follow a joint program to finish my M.B.A.

I didn't see the beach or lakes (from Charleston, SC) much for years, which really blew...but it's paid off in a huge way now.
