It's called lake etiquette and people don't know a thing about it.
It really does take a beat down for some people to get the picture.
I have actually had long discussions about it with people on the lake and unfortunately they don't even realize how stupid they are some times. Those people aren't bad cuz they are willing to learn, it's the guy that knows he's a dumb a$$ and still drives like he his the only guy on the water that kill me. We chase those Bubb Rubb around and when they stop to chill we hang right next to them with the sub pumpin, talk about a peaceful day on the lake with the wife, NOT, see yah chump.... _________________ PEACE

I really think it is a shame that the younger generations, by that I mean most of the wakeboarders; know more about etiquette than those of the older who have been on the water all their lives. I must admit that I've been impressed by nearly everyone Ive seen wakeboarding and their respect of others on the water. Nothing makes me more mad than to see some d/a old man in his $50,000 boat cruising right behind someone being pulled behind another boat. Freakin idiots. _________________ If you're scared say you're scared |

Last weekend, a guy was out pulling tubers... zig zagging .. at 9:00am..
I'm pretty tolerant about most things, but screw with the water during the early AM and I will get evil on you. _________________ "Our common welfare as wakeboarders shall come first, placing principles ahead of personalities......" |

| Always keep a water balloon launcher on board for just such an occasion. The wakeboard tower was originally invented for the express reason to stretch one of these bad boys between the pipes. And once they come over to politely inquire as to the meaning of your forceful thrashing, this is the time to lay down the law and if they get bitchy you make like a pirate ship and prepare to rumble. Once the boat is secured you can pound the point home with the actual flag stick, flag stick flogging is very effective. This would be a funny candid camera type of thing. All joking aside, WakePunk I'm sorry about your friend, that is the worst thing I've ever heard of. Boats should be like cars, pass the test and if you F-u-c-k up then you are done! Remember flagstick flogging!!! |

That's just mean. Perhaps they were retaliating as well...is your stereo kicking out really early? That would likely piss off an older couple having breakfast and trying to enjoy their bazillion dollar lakefront home. Sound carries well across water. Granted, I agree with everything on this post, but was hoping to raise that question. I guess it was brought on by JDOGG's comment, which is a pretty nifty means of getting the message across. Are there sterotypical things that wakeboarders do to piss other people off? the only thing I can think of is perhaps stereos and loud coarse language in the vicinity of kids. I have no radio on my boat but I'm sure we could work on cutting out the screamed obscenities.
I think that with wakeboarding, like slaloming, a lot of the courtesy is embedded in the sport - no one likes chop or big waves when trying to ride ~ so naturally you'll develop a sense of courtesy when it comes to such things. However, there is a much wider realm of courtesy when it comes to boating and to the people living on the lake.

What the hell is that?
Where I ride, most of the time the people respect the orange flag. But the one thing that pisses me off is when people on there PWCs start zoomin right by you like they own the place. I was riding behind my uncles boat once and some guys on their PWCs were following me not more than 10 feet away. Its times like those where I wanna smash them over the head with a pipe and beat some sense into them, although flag flogging sounds good too _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

| i dont think its a lack of respect i think the other people are just idiots that have no idea what they are doing. when my lake gets crowded people are zooming everyehere, cutting other people off, tailgating you, etc. etc., if they had any idea how dangerous some of these things are they may not do them. it seems like most of those people for get one thing. boats dont have brakes. |

I disagree with that brake thing. Boats do have brakes. They are called stumps, other boats, sandbars, and docks. LOL _________________ If you're scared say you're scared |

I have never seen an orange flag on our lake. If I thought that they might work, I would be putting out orange flags all over my cove. Who puts these out? Do they just allow you to ski and not fish. I got one big ass problem with these damn jugs with hooks hanging off of them . How can you get away with these trot lines. Also, i like the idea of using the tower to launch balloons. i will try that. _________________ Sorry for laughing!

I hate it when you are trying to drive double ups , and a jet ski cuts you off to hit the double up. That pisses me off so much! One guy did it at our lake and i stoped immediately, and and flipped him off, when he saw me do that he looked so shocked like he hadnt done anything! Also the same guy was following me while i was boarding, probably about 20-30 feet behind me hitting our wake. There are people who have no common sense or boat etiquet (sp) at all. In Canada we have a boat liscnese that you have to take, but its all BS. Its a big scam.
Example question
What is a lifejackets purpose?
A. To prevent hypothermia
B. To look fashionable
C. To prevent drowning
D.Or to hold your emergency flares.
The question's are common knowledege, me and all my friends never even studied. _________________ Ontario Rider
