My 2005 SANTE 210 TE came with a stock Clarion APX 480M amplifier. There is on 4 ohm channel that is not used on the amp. Can I run two 4 ohm tower speakers connected in Parallel to this connection and get sufficient volume, or do I need to buy a second amplifier?

Thanks.

If you run two 4 ohm tower speakers in parallel, the amp will be seeing a 2ohm load. More than likely that amp cannot handle 2 ohms

CC connected the 4 interior speakers in parallel onto 2 channels (2ohm load, as the APX is 2ohm stable). The other 2 channels are bridged for the subwoofer. So it seems that 1 channel is not used on the amplifier, but in reallity the sub is using the minus of one channel and the plus of the other channel. Do not connect this "free" channel to other speakers!

What Amplifier should I buy if I want to run two pairs of POLK MOMO's with the stock system?

How do I get the signal from the stereo to the new amplifier. Is there an RCA connection on the stock amplifier that will transfer the signal?

Thanks!

The easiest and cheapest way is to get a Clarion APX 280m. It's the same amplifier as the 480 you already have, but then 2 channels. You can wire the 2 pairs of speakers parallel to this amp.
The Clarion Head Unit (CMD3 ?) has 3 outputs and 1 input on the back. 2 Outputs are normal range and suitable for your needs. The other output is for a specific sub-amplifier.

Thanks.

I am going to buy two pairs of POLK MOMO speakers from AudioFormz.

Are the POLK DB 651's better than the MMC 650's? I am not sure which would be better. It looks like the 650's have more power capacity.

When running two pairs of speakers in parallel, would I need to run 4 wires (2 positive, 2 negative) through the tower from the amp and then connect from one speaker to the next in the pair (positive to positive, and negative to negative?)

Thanks for all of your excellent advice!
