|
|
I went boarding for the first time in four years about a week ago. Since then, it's felt like I have a VERY minor pinched nerve. It doesn't in any way cause me to go numb. And it doesn't hurt badly at all. It's just enough to annoy me and not enough to even affect my daily life.
Thing about it is, I can't even be guaranteed that it was caused by wakeboarding...as strange as the back is, it could have been caused just by stepping out of the boat.
But, has anyone gotten a VERY minor pinched nerve like this one? And, if so, what did u do to get it go away? How long did it take to heal?
Thanks

Yes - sometimes I tweak my back or neck and get some tingling. It can be associated with a minor headache or bachache. A firend went through that this weekend too, so I'll post you on what she found out.
She checked in with the doc who saw symptoms of minor whiplash. This includes muscle swelling or strain around the injury. Muscles try to compensate for the injury. In her case, nothing to worry about. Doc said minor bumps and bruises can strengthen minor muscles and ligaments in the long run (better than being inactive), while major ones should be avoided as they will leave you old and sore in your later years, or worse.
The best advice I've heard is to try tricks only when you're ready for them. You're unlikely to be injured if you're close on a trick, more likely if you're way off. |

Flipside,
I pinched some major nerves in my shoulder playing football in high school, and it cause some serious pain whenever I needed to use that shoulder to push anything. The pain was sharp, and did not go away for months. Doc said there isn't much that can be done, just let it rest, and ice it when needed. Hope this helps |

I think I'm just gonna get back out there and give it a shot. There's really no way for a Doctor to tell me if there's any real danger unless I get an MRI. And that's A LOT of cash to invest to just ask the question. So, I'm just gonna ride right now. If things continue to get worse, I'll go see a doctor about it. But, there's really nothing a doctor can do until he/she sees the point of injury (if there even is one). And, like I said before, that really requires an MRI. And, I'm not sure my insurance would pay to just ask that question right now.
The only reason I say any of this is that my Dad has had some bad disk problems in his back. Granted, my Dad isn't a medical doctor. But, he knows back/nerve problems seeing as he endured to badly ruptured disks for over two years before surgery.
