Coated lines are much better on the fingers when the boat's bringing the handle back to you.

Personally, I don't know anything about Airhead, but it looks like a better set up to me. Not only is the rope longer with all the sections, but you get the wrapped handle which you may not use at first, but it's fun to try out some wrapped TS tricks every now and then. As for cost, I honestly don't know. Maybe brand recognition. Personally, I don't like the Straight Lines. They're decent, not to say they don't have some good products, but I think the quality is below average. Then again, the Airhead might be worse.

i dont know about that airhead rope, but i learned with a airhead ski rope, and it sucked. the grips came off the handle in about a month, and the loop came undone before last sumer was over.

I recommend the straight line - but only for the reason I've never heard of airhead and Dick's generally sells the lowest end gear possible. Buy a decent rope and handle now or else you'll end up paying more in the end. The straight line handle should be a little softer on your hands as well. I got the straight line setup free with some order from the-house boardshop, and have used it a few times with no complaints.
