I have an old pair of high top Nike Air Force Ones laying around and wanted to experiment with converting them to wakeboard bindings. I want to put them on my old board to replace the sandal bindings because anything is more comfortable then those things. I figure i can use the plate from the sandal bindings but I need a way to attach the shoes to the plate. It sounds like a fun project and i think it could work.

Any suggestions?

pull the foam off of your bindings, the pull the insole out of your af1s put the shoes on the bindings where you would want them to be. Drill for small holes through them both. put washers on the inside of the shoe and then rivet them to old plates

STOMPIN' IN MY ARE FORCE ONES!!!!

How do you think they'll hold up getting wet so often? I could see them falling apart pretty quickly, but I guess its worth a shot.

Good luck, let us see some pics when you get it done.

This is horrible, this idea.

Seriously. Any way you attach those to the board are going to strip right off in a fall. Shoes are meant to be tight around your foot and not come off. Bindings (and specifically sandal bindings) are meant to come off in a fall if you put too much force on them. In summary, your sandal bindings are better than shoes.

Get on ebay or look in the classifieds section for some real bindings. I've actually got an extra pair of '01 ultras I'd sell you for $40.

The sole on these shoes are 1.5 inches of solid rubber. If they are mounted correctly I can ensure you they wont fall off. The shoes are high tops and have a strap so they offer a little more support than normal shoes. We'll see how it goes.

Also thank you for the offer but I do own a pair of CWB Factions and i'm only doing this out of fun because i never ride my sandal bindings.

elmerfudd, no man, Wakebrad is saying that you are supposed to come out of bindings in hard falls. And, no the soles of those shoes are not 1.5 inches of "solid rubber."

I agree with Wakebrad, save your time and your shoes. They will not last more than one or two hard runs and you might end up hurting yourself in the process. If you want to try it and find out for yourself, go for it.

elmerfudd, they're actually full of air in the middle, hence the name. Figure it out and take a picture, but please don't ride in these other than just to say you did. Wakebrad is right, this is not a good idea. Besides, the water will eat them up. If you actually intend to get these wet that is, drill small holes about two inches apart all the way around the base in the leather. That's what we always did to get our lake shoes to dry faster, thus making them last longer.

Dude, FYI look at the last reply in a post. At the top of that reply there will be a date. If that date is two years ago, do not respond to it just to chime in on a project that was taking place......well TWO YEARS AGO!!

It seems that you have been bored and read wayyyyy back in the posts.
