| Does anyone have any experience with the new Liquid Force S4? I am thinking about buying this as my first board, because it sounds like a good combination of board traits that I am looking for and it looks pretty wicked. I am a beginner, with about a month and a half of riding under my belt and I have riden some "Advanced" boards in the LF Witness and the LF Shane, but have no way to demo the S4. Also, am I going to be slowing my progression if I am riding an agressive board or does it not matter? |

I don't know about that board specifically, but as far as progression, it will seem slower at first, though most people feel as though it helps them in the long run. Reason being that an advanced board forces you to do things right. You're likely to take more falls while learning, maybe even harder falls than you would on an intermediate or beginner board. But, on the other hand, you will find out immediately what works and what doesn't. Try to factor in how serious you will be about your progression, and decide whether you want a board that you can get on and learn to ride easily, or a board that will take longer to learn, but force you to learn proper technique that will benefit you down the road. _________________

Thanks for the good info Chris. Your explaination is about what I thought. I like the immediate reinforcement of technique. I would rather eat it when I do something wrong then ride that way for a whole summer only to be set back later on anyway. I think I have a good idea of proper form for edging and jumping down for now. Now, if I could only figure out how to land those jumps with the board still under me. |
