Interesting developments today...reports the cops eye socket was damaged, indicating a struggle, and another person shot (which seems very justifiable coming at them with a knife and all)
Impossible! The ME with more years experience than chadh has been alive said there was no struggle. They probably busted his eye up at the station to cover up.

Out of curiosity, are there any reputable news sources reporting that? I only see that in the NY Post and Breitbart.

I saw it on a link from another forum, which was from Gateway Pundit, when I first read about it yesterday. Seems like mostly right wing news groups have run with the story so far.
Edit: Looks like ABC is running the story. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
I think its funny that while neither side has all the facts yet, everyone's speculation (here and elsewhere) is congruent to their general political leanings. The libs speculate the cop killed an innocent unarmed teddy bear, and the conservatives speculate the cop successfully defended himself from certain death at the hands of a dangerous street thug.
More often times than not the truth lies somewhere in the middle. My speculation is that there will be actions on both sides worthy of criticism. However, all the defense has to prove is that the officer believed his life was in danger and had reasonable cause to believe so. I do not think that will be hard to prove. _________________ TONA

OKLAHOMA CITY (Reuters) - An Oklahoma City police officer was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least six women while on patrol, police said.
Daniel Holtzclaw, a three-year veteran, was booked on charges that included rape, oral sodomy and sexual battery, Chief Bill Citty told reporters.
A lawyer for Holtzclaw was not immediately available for comment. He is being held on $5 million bond.
Police expect there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. They added that some of the suspected assaults took place as a result of traffic stops.

The media is just the broadcast (propaganda) arm of the machine, but what is in control of this country certainly isn't the Constitutional Republic our FF's established. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
I did get a kick out the irony of watching Maddow and O'Donnell get upset about the police officer not writing a incident report under the advice of his UNION provided lawyer. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian?
Kinda hard to see what happens for sure, but it certainly doesn't match up with the story, like you mentioned. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
jason_ssr, you get a justifiable shooting from that video???
By the letter of the law, yes. He was armed, non-compliant, showing aggression and moving towards the officer. These facts presented in the video make a more than reasonable case for an officer to fear for his life.
The criminals behavior is what escalated the situation, not the officers. Sure, I would prefer it end differently, but I cannot blame the officer for making a life preserving call in a split second.
Is it fair to say he asked for it? _________________ TONA
he did ask for it, but the officer could have avoided harm by simply walking backwards. cop killed a mentally disabled man because he'd rather pull a trigger than back down and regroup.
I disagree...a guy with a knife could be up on you really quick, so sometimes a decision needs to be made earlier and it is a judgment call. Obviously, I'm not happy with the way many officers handle situations like this and think the decision in Ferguson was made in haste. However, making the wrong decision or making the decision too late, can end up being a bad outcome, especially if the person with the knife has any decent level of skills. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
i don't think it's outrageous, i just think the cop/s could have handled that very differently and the guy would be alive today. 1st cop steps out of the car w/ gun drawn. 2nd cop doesn't draw until the perp steps up onto the retaining wall. they know he's holding a knife, not a gun. the knife is never raised, and the guy isn't moving forward at anything more than an amble.
here's the moment he's shot:
i'll definitely agree that this is about as borderline as you can get on this particular topic. dude has a weapon, is advancing on the cop, and asking to be shot (literally). is a taser going to work through a hoodie, and before the perp gets to the cop? it's certainly not black/white (no racial pun intended).
i just think a cop has to assess that behavior as someone who has issues and do what they can to not kill a citizen.
Agreed. It may not have turned out any differently, but there could have been an interim step of them backing off a bit to see if they could diffuse the situation. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

So a guy with a knife can be up on you quicker than a normal person? That looks like a pretty good distance away to me, and with 2 officers one could draw gun the other taser. Without backing up, they still had more time to diffuse.
I also counted 5 shots after the perp hit the ground. Pretty embarrassing to me... _________________

My point is that if a guy is 20 yards away, he can be at 0 yards about as fast as you can react to it and pick a strategy. Sometimes the decision has to be made before the guy is too close.
Specifically in regards to the video we're talking about, I think there was probably enough time to delay the decision, or decide after he got too close. I agree with your comment about one drawing a gun and the other a taser. That would have been a good strategy. I also agree that the extra shots are definitely overkill. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
Right, just seems odd. Either the cops were lined up such that there was cross-fire and he got hit, or he was in the line of fire somewhere away from all the cops and got hit. Either way, seems like a bit of negligence and you would think with that many shots fired, he wouldn't be the only one (other than the suspect) that got hit. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
