It seemed like the claim was that there is no such thing as attempted manslaughter, so I looked it up. It seems like there is such a thing. That's my only point.

Was the update in there when you posted this?

Quote:
Update: Police confirmed the death of the man involved was suicide. While they didn't want to get into the details of how it was done, they told KRMG news it's not uncommon for hanging suicides to end in decapitation.

Still a little puzzling about the hands and feet being tied, but the decapitation makes a bit more sense with the update.

This Traffic Stop Video Epitomizes Everything that is Wrong With Police Today
By Matt Agorist on October 3, 2014

“We’ll get CPS to take your baby!”

Sandusky, OH — A mother and father were on their way home with their 2 week old baby when they were stopped by Sandusky police officers.

Andre Stockett, the father and the passenger in the vehicle, and the man who took the video, has a good understanding of his rights when dealing with police.

Despite the police pulling over the vehicle, for an alleged “traffic violation,” they do nothing to the driver. Her license is run and it comes back valid so they have nothing on them, yet like bullies on the playground they begin ganging up on Stockett.

Stockett has committed no crime and has not been suspected of committing a crime, so he lawfully refuses to identify himself. This assertion of his rights does not go over well with the bullies on the playground, so Officer Denny throws a temper tantrum.

The K-9 unit is brought in.
As several media outlets have reported, K-9’s are not only often poorly trained, they are frequently wrong. They can also be taught to alert on cue.

Stockett says that he does not consent to any searches, which is well within his rights. However, Officer Denny knows how to avert these rights; bring in the drug dog.

Unfortunately in Illinois v. Caballes, the Supreme Court ruled that police do not need reasonable suspicion to use drug dogs to sniff a vehicle during a legitimate traffic stop and that a drug dog alerting to a vehicle allows them to search it.

Stockett could have contended that this was no longer a “legitimate traffic stop” but it seems that nothing was going to stop these jackboots from arresting someone.

After the dog allegedly ‘alerted’ to the vehicle, Stockett and his wife are told to get out of the vehicle. When they refuse, because they have a 2 week old infant in the back seat, these thugs threaten to take their baby!

“We’ll get CPS to take your baby!”

At this point in the video, if your blood is not boiling you are not a human being. The police continue to make up new reasons why they were pulled over and why they are being detained/arrested. It is absolutely infuriating.

The asininity peaks when officer Denny backtracks and tells the family that he originally pulled them over because their lights weren’t on, but it is clearly daylight outside.

Eventually under duress and the threat of violence, the family is forced to exit the vehicle. Stockett was arrest for, wait for it….wait for it, obstruction of justice. These harassing tyrants have the audacity to claim that it was this family who was obstructing justice and not their jackbooted thuggery. Unbelievable.

No drugs were found.

The only thing absent from this video is the Sandusky police tasering and beating the family, however the threat of stealing someone’s child stings way more than a baton every could.

Stockett, for good reason, says he plans to fight the charges of obstruction. Please share this article to let other police officers know that when they violate people’s rights they will be exposed.

A Tulsa Sheriff’s Deputy has resigned after he has been arrested for sexually assaulting two women.

According to the department’s statement, Deputy Nuckolls has said he exposed himself to other women in his two years on patrol and has a problem being around pretty women. The department is now asking other victims to come forward.

Oklahoma has made headlines with three serial rapists in 3 weeks, all officers, as well as one police chief molesting children, Corrupt Frisco Cops reports.

Daniel Holtzclaw, an Oklahoma City police officer, is out on bail and on paid leave, charged with four counts each of sexual battery, indecent exposure, and oral sodomy; two counts of rape; and one count each of burglary and stalking. He would allegedly threaten to arrest women who refused to comply with his sexual demands.

Former Spavinaw Police Chief Gregory was back in court on Thursday for stalking his two underage molestation victims and following their school busses and parking outside of their schools to watch them, KJRH reported.

State Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Roberts was arrested on Monday after complaints of kidnapping, rape and other crimes after three women alleged the officer sexually assaulted them while he was on duty.

Given this string of sexual assaults, Channel 2 News asked OK Highway Patrol Captain George Brown about their hiring process and background checks, as well as how to remain safe when dealing with police. His response? Don’t get stopped.

“Many times people want to know what to do, simply what do I do on a traffic stop? It’s an uncomfortable situation for everyone involved, for the officer who has to worry about officer safety and for the person, many times female, who are stopped. So, what we do, we suggest they first and foremost do your part and do what it takes to obey the traffic laws, not get stopped.”

Listen, Captain George Brown, instead of telling people how not to get raped, how about telling officers not to rape?

A busted tail light, just like a mini skirt, does not cause rape. Rapists and institutional tolerance cause rape.

Sexual misconduct is the second highest of all complaints nationwide against police officers, representing 9.3 percent in 2010, according to an unofficial study by the Cato Institute’s National Police Misconduct Reporting Project.

In 2010, 354 of the 618 complaints involved nonconsensual sexual acts, and over half of those involved where minors.

Michigan Officer Gives Young Mom Car Seat Instead of a Ticket

A public safety officer from Emmett Township, Michigan, went beyond the call of duty on Saturday.

Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Ben Hall was on his patrol when he pulled a vehicle over for a traffic violation. When he made contact with the driver, he noticed a small child in the car who was wearing a seat belt but not in a child’s car seat.

The young mother told Officer Hall that she understood the importance of having the child in a car seat, but could not afford one because of her limited income at the time.

Rather than giving the young mother a traffic ticket, Officer Hall had the mother pull into a Walmart parking lot, where he went inside and purchased a car seat to keep her daughter safe in.

A cop in Indiana is dispensing the gospel along with traffic warnings and tickets.

Ellen Bogan expects police to protect and serve — not proselytize.

But she says Indiana State Police Trooper Brian Hamilton pitched Christianity to her when he pulled her over for an alleged traffic violation in August on U.S. 27 in Union County.

With the lights on his marked police car still flashing, the trooper handed Bogan a warning ticket. Then, Bogan said, Hamilton posed some personal questions.

Did she have a home church?

Did she accept Jesus Christ as her savior?

"It's completely out of line and it just — it took me aback," Bogan, 60, told The Indianapolis Star.

The police dept is saying the cop has a "free speech" right to spread the Word.

He's on the clock while doing this? Then F*CK NO he doesn't. While he is on duty he is a public servant and on the taxpayer dime - he can proselytize on his own time.

Quote:
The Dallas ISD is investigating reports of steroid use by its police department Thursday morning.

According to the DISD, one officer sold what is thought to be an illegal steroid to another officer. Several officers knew about the drug deal and did not report it.

An internal investigation was launched by the DISD last Thursday. Two officers have resigned, two more may be fired and a fifth is facing suspension.

Dallas school officials said no students were involved.

things that do not surprise me one bit:
1) cops using steroids
2) cops buying illegal steroids
3) cops selling illegal steroids
4) cops covering up for other cops buying and selling illegal steroids

Cleburne police are investigating after a video circulated online of one of its officers coaxing a dog toward him before shooting it.

The short video, taken from a body camera’s perspective, shows a man’s arms wielding a handgun while the officer summons two dogs toward him.

As the animals approached with their tails wagging, the officer fired several times. As one of the dogs fell to the ground, the officer, who has not been identified, took aim at the second dog.

The video ends abruptly, before showing what happened to the other dog.

This is probably the most info we are ever going to get on what really happened in Ferguson. The picture is starting to look less and less like some of the witnesses and people living in that neighborhood originally described it. I'm not saying they all got it completely wrong but the scientific proof that some type of scuffle took place inside the police car and the science connected with the other gunshot wounds offer a much different story from a forensic standpoint.

I'll be curious to hear whether his buddy who was with him will offer any different or additional details. I doubt he will.

cop camera saves cop: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/10/20/drunk-woman-says-cop-sexually-assaulted-her-cop-shuts-her-down-with-video-evidence/

She may act charming, but Deanna Griego was apparently willing to do anything to get out of trouble — including accusing a cop of sexually assaulting her.

Thankfully for Albuquerque police officer Jared Frazier, he was recording the whole encounter, KOB-TV reported.

When Frazier pulled Griego over on suspicion of drunken driving earlier this month, she tried to explain her slurred speech as a “speech impediment” and seemed to be trying to buddy up to the officer, telling him, “I’m going to school for being a cop.”

But the 23-year-old bombed the roadside sobriety tests, so Frazier cuffed her and took her to a police station, where she took a Breathalyzer test.

That’s when she said she had to pee — and things got weird.

Frazier heard her talking in the bathroom, and realized she had slipped her cellphone inside her bra back on the side of the road.

Frazier went to the bathroom door and told her she couldn’t be on the phone, and that’s when she claimed sexual assault.

But since Frazier was secure in the knowledge that his lapel camera had recorded his interactions with her, he was able to chuckle as he dutifully called EMTs to investigate Griego’s claim.

“Basically the whole thing’s on video,” he tells the paramedics in the video. “She’s accusing me of touching her.”

An official investigation exonerated Frazier, showing Griego’s sexual assault claim to be baseless, KOB reported.

Albuquerque Police Department union president Stephanie Lopez said in a statement to KOB, “The desire to frame officers for wrongdoing is a growing issue facing officers every day. We believe that the public should be held accountable for filing false reports against police officers. These incidents can be very damaging to an officer’s career, so we hope that this individual and others face appropriate consequences for their malicious actions.”

According to the news station, Griego was facing a drunken driving charge but, as of Thursday night, no charges for falsely claiming sexual abuse.

A police representative told KOB that Griego could be hit with additional charges for the false claim. TheBlaze has reached out to Albuquerque police for updates on Griego’s charges.

UPDATE: Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Tanner Tixier told TheBlaze on Monday evening that police were not pursuing additional charges against Griego because, despite the apparent falsehood of her sexual assault claim, police did not want to set a precedent that could discourage other potential victims of sexual assault from coming forward.

Earlier this week, we broke the story of California Highway Patrol officer Sean Harrington, a cop who was accused of stealing nude photographs from a woman who was arrested for DUI.

On Friday, Mercury News obtained court documents showing that the situation was more disturbing and more widespread than was initially expected. The victim and her lawyer did suspect that other officers were involved in the crime, and according to the recently obtained documents, there were a number of other officers involved. In fact, it was admitted by officer Harrington that collecting nude photos from the phones of arrested women was a “game” that he and other officers played while on duty.

Rick Madsen, the attorney representing the 23-year-old woman who discovered the officer’s activities, pointed to evidence that was recently uncovered in the case, showing degrading messages that were sent back and forth between officers at the department.

“The callousness and depravity with which these officers communicated about my client is dehumanizing, horribly offensive and degrading to all women. It’s going to lead to another level of mistrust and skepticism to the motive of law enforcement in general,” Madsen said.

In text messages uncovered during the investigation, Harrington and another officer discussed sharing the nude photographs from the woman’s phone, and spoke in the most crude terms.

According to the arrest affidavit, “Harrington said he first learned of this scheme when he was working in the Los Angeles office, Harrington said when he was assigned to the Dublin office, he learned from other officers that they would access the cell phones of female arrestees and look for nude photographs of them. Harrington said if photographs were located, the officers would then text the photographs to other sworn members of the office, and, to non-CHP individuals. Harrington described this scheme as a game.”

In one text message exchange between Harrington and another officer, Harrington promised to send the officer nudes and said, “Just return the favor down the road buddy,” with a smiley face.

A Saratoga County sheriff's sergeant was suspended after a video posted on the Internet Friday showed him allegedly slap a young man as the deputy insisted on searching his vehicle, which had a rifle on the back seat.

Sheriff Michael Zurlo on Saturday said he was "very disturbed" by what he saw on the video.

"I really am," the sheriff said. "I don't condone activity as it's portrayed and we're going to look into it and we'll handle this quickly and swiftly."

Sgt. Shawn R. Glans, 48, who has been a police officer for 27 years, was suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.

The video was captured by a young man who filmed his friend's encounter with Glans early Friday in Halfmoon. Glans confronted the pair after he said they walked out of nearby woods to their vehicle, which was in the parking lot of a business. Glans noticed a .22-caliber rifle on the back seat. The sergeant said they were wearing dark clothes and acting suspicious, although they broke no laws.

"We'll get a (expletive) search warrant," the video shows Glans telling the young man, who was questioning the deputy's insistence that he be allowed to search the car.

"I wasn't in my car when all this was happening," the young man says. "Like, why don't you want to search, like, my house or something."

The video depicts Glans becoming frustrated as he says: "Let me see your (expletive) keys."

"Why?" the young man asks. "You can't do that."

"Because we're searching your (expletive) car, that's why," Glans says.

The deputy then apparently slaps the young man as he says: "You want to (expletive) resist?" The slap can be heard but is not captured on the video because the camera was pointed downward at that moment.

Moments later, the sheriff's sergeant tells the young man who was filming the encounter that he could "rip your (expletive) head off and (expletive) down your neck."

"You like that, huh? I can get a lot more intense," the sergeant tells the young man.

Reached Saturday, Glans said there was more to the encounter than is captured on the video.

"You saw the video. It doesn't look good," Glans told the Times Union. "I'm all about doing the right thing. I had to go to that point because of the factors that came into play. There was a gun that was involved (that) I spotted in the vehicle."

Asked if he would have handled the matter the same way again, Glans said he would, but not if he knew it was being filmed. He acknowledged that he did not know the incident was being videotaped.

"I was concerned. It was a public safety issue," the sergeant said. "If I had to do it all over again ... I'd probably do the same thing. If I knew the camera was there, no, because it does look bad."

His wife, Carrie, who is a medical provider, said her husband has been under a lot of emotional and physical stress and that she's concerned how the video and any fallout may portray their family in the community.

"What my husband did and how he reacted wasn't the correct way to do it, but there were circumstances that came about beforehand," she said. "He's had a very hard year."

The young men who were confronted by Glans could not be reached for comment early Saturday.

A website, Liveleak.com, cited an interview with one of them that was attributed to another website, Photography is Not a Crime. The websites said the young man who filmed the incident said they parked their car at the business and walked to a nearby party. He also said his friend had purchased the .22-caliber rifle earlier that day, had a receipt for the weapon, and was finally let go after showing the deputy the receipt.

Zurlo said the internal investigation was underway Saturday, and that the young men in the video were identified and had been interviewed. Glans is suspended without pay.

"I don't comment on internal matters or until we get everything done, all the facts, which we're working on today," the sheriff said.
