Anyone ever done any quick jobs overseas?

So I can't seem to get a straight answer on this from anyone and thought I might try to find someone that's actually done it...i'm a consultant for a firm that has a branch overseas (UK) and am going over there briefly to do a job (2 weeks). According to a couple of websites, if it's anything under 6 months I don't need a visa if I have a "work permit" but I'm not sure if I even need one of those since I'm just basically going over there for a couple of meetings and coming back. All the language seems to indicate that I'd have to be working for a UK company to need the documentation, which isn't technically the case, so I was hoping someone on here had had a similar situation and could enlighten me? Should I just say I'm there for pleasure when i get off the plane?

I would think the company you work for should know something about what you need, can't be the first time they sent someone over there?

return ticket = good
travelling for business meetings for a couple weeks = normal
getting paid by the US organization while you are working over seas = not requiring permit

x2 on the first two items that Alter Ego indicated, though some countries that I've worked in even require a business visa for that. I don't believe that the UK is one of those, but I could be wrong as I think that they changed their visa requirements last year.

That said, the best bet is to either check with your corporate travel agency (if you have one), or with an agency like CIBT that assists people with processing visas.

I was in the UK for 2 months once for work, told customs/immigration I was there for work. Was still getting paid in the USA, so no worries.

I was in Costa Rica for work for 5 months, same deal, although I am pretty sure you have to go home occasionally, which I did.
