Went out yesterday, got to the lake around 4:00 pure butter, no one around. So this is a good day to work on big air, and yeah got me some, repeatedly, but not what this thread is about. Around 7:30-8:00 or so I boot a pretty good one and came up just a few inches short, nosed my board into the crest of the wake. Broke it, I am so bummed right now, this is going to kill probably more then a month off my season, I really can't afford a new board right now since I have to buy a new truck. I dunno maybe it can be fixed? Even if I fix it I won't feel comfortable going big on it.......Dammit this sucks. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

JeffreyCH, that would definitely be covered under warranty, call the board company and ask if you can send them pics of it in order to get a new board sent to you, you might have to pay to have it shipped there though but it shouldnt be a problem

blitzentrapped, Thanks man, but it's an 07. How long are boards covered under warranty? Also I bought it on close out, do they just cover boards no matter where you got 'em?

JeffreyCH, well it depends, i've had a two year old board covered before, so i guess it depends on who you talk to and if they're in a giving mood or not

put less of a down payment on the truck and extend the payback period from 4 years to 6 years for example. You should be able to afford a new board that way Smile

against something like that they should always be covered IMO. Boards simply should not break unless you are hitting sliders and such. If you've never hit a slider I can almost guarantee you the company will take care of you. I've never had a wakeboard company yet who hasn't taken care of me.

Boards just shouldn't be breaking from normal use. And if they do, you should be getting a free replacement.

blitzentrapped, Thanks, I'll call em as soon as they open.

imshirazy, I guess I should have said new(used) truck, I never finance anything, wouldn't be a big deal except my crew van died and I don't want to fix it(not worth it) to top it off the weather here has been screwing my schedule up royally so money is very tight.

On a side note: Part of me feels like a real bad assed boarder now, going big enough to break my ride. The crash was....well just plain weird, sucked both my feet out of the bindings, and busted both lower laces, and it didn't hurt me one bit. Really wish I had a vid cam for that one Very Happy

Wakeboarder3780, No sliders ever, I don't even think there is a rail with in 100 miles of here lol. It would be totally badass if they cover it and I get a brand new '09. Man if they did that I would stick with HL for life, and every time I recommend a board it would be HL HL HL HL HL Laughing

I'm sitting on an un-used 134 that's a couple years old. I'd send it your way if you could handle using a 134 for awhile. Better than nothing? Neutral

b33nine, Wow bro thanks for offer that's very cool Cool I have a POS hydroslide 141 that will get me by. A 134 would be to small I'm afraid. Plus I can ride my brothers 138 faction, but even that feels a bit small.

On the bright side, I maybe getting a brand new one, I called HL and they said yes it is covered under warranty I just have to go through an authorized HL dealer. I called Scheels here in town and they seemed willing to help me out with getting the return authorization even though I didn't buy it there. If this goes through it will be the best turn of events I've ever had. Smile

holdsworth, Cool, it does look like this is gonna go through, I have to take it to scheels after noon when the water sports manager is there. The guy I talked to didn't seem to think it would be a problem. HL already told me it was covered, just has to be returned by a dealer.

STANG KILLA SS, WOW!!! thanks a bunch, what size is it? I'll find out here shortly. I'm heading out the door to drive across town, wish me luck. And thanks again, if it wasn't for you guys I never even would have thought of warranty replacement, and the offers for donated boards is just above and beyond. I'll let everyone know how this turns out.

Update: I dropped the board off at Scheels, Trevor, the water sports manager, was completely cool about helping me out. He called HL right then and there. HL said they needed pics (save the cost of shipping it to them) so Trevor hoked me up with a lady named Joanie that handles that kind of thing. She took one look at the damage and said "That's not right" so she is emailing pics to HL. She said more then likely what will happen is HL will just send out a new board and then they (Scheels) will just destroy my old one. Which is kind of a bummer cause I really loved that board...oh well, I guess boards are like women, they get cracked out you toss em and get a new one Laughing

So now the ball is in Hyperlites court, it sounds like they will make this right. If they do, I'll be a die hard fan of Hyperlite forever. I want to give props to the staff at the Lincoln Scheels, they are really going out of their way to help someone that didn't even buy the board from them to begin with. If anyone in the Lincoln area is looking to buy gear and don't want to wait for shipping, go to Scheels and ask for Trevor he knows his gear and rides as well. They had some pretty decent package close out deals, several boards/binding set ups to choose from under 300 bucks.

I'll keep everyone posted on what's going on with this, and thanks again guys for all the help and offers of spare boards. Cool

See if they'll let you keep the board. You can make a sweet table, bench, etc. out of it.

From my experience I'd be willing to be LF would cover that as well. Haven't tried the other brands yet. Think I'll try cwb next...

s3gh0st, kyle b.word, Yes it would and thanks

Wakeboarder3780, Yeah I would guess most of the big companies would cover it, at least I hope so. I've skies O'Brian (H.O.) skis' for the better part of 20 years and never had any issue with their gear, I guess it's one of the reasons I went with HL stuff to begin with.

You're lucky it's covered under warranty. I had some similar damage to my board a few years back, but it wasn't covered by warranty. I just through some epoxy on it, sanded it smooth, and haven't had a problem with it since.

JeffreyCH, you are definitely set with hyperlite. I sent in my 08 atlas's that ripped and they are covered. Didn't even have to send them through the shop that I bought them from and all I have to pay for is the shipping. I'm not sure what bindings they are sending but I know it is either going to be the Murray's or the Mareks which will both be an equally nice surprise.

ilubronix, That's good to hear. I do find it odd that you are dealing direct with HL, when I spoke to them on the phone they told me they don't do that? You got some kind of pull with them?

JeffreyCH, no no thats not what i meant lol. I meant that I took the bindings to a different shop to send back, then the shop i bought them from. I didn't mean i dealt directly with them, but i think its awesome that they let you send gear back from a different retailer than you made your purchase.

ilubronix, AHHHH I see, about the same as what I am going through, that is really great news. I guess I'm still nervous about this whole thing, I don't trust large companies, but from what everyone has said WB manufacturers are a different breed.

Just got home from work to find a happy email in my inbox. My brand spanking new '09 premier is here waiting to be picked up at Scheels. The whole process took 2 weeks, this rocks I can't wait to ride it, I hate that old 2001 hydroslide lol. I'll get some pics after I pick it up. Now I noticed my bindings are starting to tear in the flex zone, Damn I'm hard on gear. Another big thanks to the staff at scheels, and hyperlite you guys rock.

For the HL warranty you can break the board in half.. OR you can just drill out the fin holes and they will cover it. So before you have them crack the board in half just drill it out and HL will do a warranty on it. Then you can keep your old board as a trophy.
