Hey I'm new to this forum so hey to everyone!
I'm looking to buy a wakeboard pretty soon and I noticed some of the extreme price differences between the 2008 and 2009 boards and bindings. Now I do like some of the 2009 boards but I don't want to go buy one in the next few days if there is going to be a significant price drop as soon as the 2010 boards are released. So I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a specific month of each year when the next year's line of boards is released. Do the different brands release new boards at different times? I would really like to get my own board soon but I'm willing to wait if it saves me a couple hundred bucks. Thanks in advance for any help. |

| Getting an '08 is always an option, but if I can get an '09 within the next few months for the same price I might as well wait...I was just wondering if it was similar to something like cars where the "2010" cars come out in the middle of 2009! |

The 2010 gear will get previewed at Surf Expo, which I believe is in August this year. It should start hitting the shelves in early spring of 2010. Once it does, you will start seeing closeouts on 09 gear. The later it gets in the season, the cheaper the previous year model stuff gets. There is just no reason not to buy last year's closeouts. That is, unless money is no object and you absolutely have to have the newest gear, which is kind of dumb IMO.
You can either buy '08 gear now at great prices, or wait another 6-8 months for the '09 stuff to get reduced. Personally, I'm very happy with my brand new '08 Lyman and '08 Cabs. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

| Thank you very much Dave, 6-8 months is still pretty far away so I will definitely start looking more closely at the '08 boards. I was kind of hoping the time scale was more in the 1-3 month range but I can't wait 6 months to get out there! Thanks again. |

t_rex, MAP pricing ends in the middle of august, which means dealers can start advertising board prices at below retail. It will probably only be 10% at first, but check around, buywake.com and perfski.com get pretty aggressive quickly with price cuts. _________________
