|
|
| Im new to wakeboarding and I only have access to my dad's 21' bayboat (sux i know). I've gone out 4 times now and i have been to a cable lake twice (texas ski ranch). I have no problem riding, im completely comfortable moving around and im okay riding switch( i was pretty good at skateboarding back in the day lol). My progressive edge is decent (not very consistent) but the main thing holding me back is the boat. It's hard to get good pop off the wake due to the cable hooking down low on each side of the motor. I have to use the centering cable thing and it just sits really low. I have only gone w2w once and it's a struggle. One problem i have is when I hit the wake and i go to stiffen my legs i go up and start to rotate forward into a frontflip, almost a raley lol, sometimes i backroll... What advice do you guys have for me to help me stay stable when up in the air? It's like the boat is pulling my upper body but my lower body just stays back. I dont know if im hitting the wake at the wrong angle or if im messing up when i straighten and stiffen my legs when i hit the wake. Also, i like being pulled at about 22-23mph, the wake is pretty nice and clean and not too wide. I can get come pictures up and maybe that will help y'all diagnose my problem. Thanks guys! |

Video will help the most in seeing what your approach and pop looks like. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

From what you describe it sounds like you may have some issues with handle placement on take off. Are you pulling the handle into your leading hip? When riding behind a low tow point every aspect of your technique has to be just right, I found that out last year riding off the ski hook on the back of my i/o. I would suggest looking into getting a pylon to raise your tow point. Since it's your dads boat I'm guessing a tower is out of the question, there is no drilling involved with putting up a pylon. _________________

I have one short video clip, ill try to upload it later.
On take off I might have the handle too far out. Should I try having it really close to my hip? How does a pylon mount to the boat? We are about to replace the floor so maybe we can install one then. |

Here's a link for insanity pylons http://www.insanitypylons.com/insanitypylons/products00.html nothing to "mount" put up the pole, tighten the straps and good to go.
Yes, the handle needs to be pulled into your leading hip. _________________

It sounds like you are letting off your edge when you jump and you have your handle too high and far out. Try to actually touch your handle to your hip when you jump. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

+1 to vette74. Also wondering what kind of rope you're using? A stretch or low-stretch rope could cause this in conjunction with the other things. _________________

It's a crappy academy rope with a hydroslide handle... It's no spectra or kevlar rope lol.
Oh another thing, all the tutorials say to edge hard through the wake but stand tall at the top of the wake. So edge all the way up the wake and then at the very top this is where you stand up? I feel like when i do this i end up flipping over the front of the board... maybe my weight isn't evenly distributed when i stand tall? |
