i saw a thing in a boat...it was just a T with rope supports...i dont think that could be hard to make...do u think it would be good enough

called an extended pylon, not sure on prices i think ther like $300. and yes many people use extended pylons instead of towers

Unless you already have a ski pylon in your boat, I don't see the point in the extended pylon. IMO, the advantages of having a tower are worth the extra $200 or less depending on brand. You don't notice it being in the way much on a direct-drive inboard because the doghouse is already in your way for the most part, but on a V-drive it just feels more inconvenient.
