What kind of boat? Is it nice? What is your budget? If you have a cheap boat
get a cheap tower to match and save the money for your next boat.
Nothing brings a nice boat down like adding cheap accessories.

so kriggs, since its your parents boat, i would make a pylon. you can do that for less than 100$, and its removable. no holes to drill. keeps the parents happy, and works just as good as a tower. just do a search for them. http://bierbower.net/diytower heres a good sight. you can find a good one to copy in your price range.

kriggs, I built one(pylon) for a fraction of the cost, and it has worked perfectly I took it out memorial day weekend and it was great. I don't know if you are a diyer or not but I could give the plans if you want it was about 120 dollars i think.

It actually turns out one of my friends in the neighborhood has an extended pylon, snagging this off of them for 50 =)

I know this disucssion is about towers... we went several years without a tower and the more we went with friends the more boards we had in the boat. We invented a rack for boarders without towers at Liquid Courage Watersports www.l-c-w.com We bought a tower last year from Rocky Mountain boat company and were able to easily install it with 3 "average joe" guys. We love our tower... and yet we feel it's given us an upper hand on tricks.

Alright, I don't even care that you are advertising on the site... those racks are sweet. However, $400 for a rack? I just don't see how your your target market is going to be unwilling to throw down $1000 for a tower, but willing to pay $400 for just a rack.

Maybe I'm way off, but I'd expect those to be in the $200 price point.
