I just started researching and trading ETFs.

I'm into DIG at an average price of $25.89 and URE at $6.08. Probably blind luck, but so far so good.

Sticking with mutual funds here (I get to invest at NAV) - money towards funds that invest in companies based on strong fundamentals.

I have an average buy somewhere around S&P 840 (Dow 8300 or so). Been buying the big drops.

Got out of URE this morning to save a 10% gain. Sold DIG at 28.70 and bought back in at 28.20.

I have some kind of retirement account with RBC (was a 401k, but lost that name when I left the last company I worked for) and I let them pick the long term stuff for me. Since I entered the business world about 18 months ago, I've yet to have a gain in that account and about 70% of my principle is gone. Fortunately I'm only 24 and have a lot of years left for that account to grow. Right now I just put a little bit of money in a Scottrade account to play the ETFs.

uh, lets ban the word trading from anyone that actually is not a trader. purchasing shares in a mutual fund or a stock is not trading, it is investing. try standing in a pit toe to toe everyday making markets, then it is considered trading.

jhilly8982, most people don't consider holding ETFs for <1 week investing, but feel free to submit your request to whatever authority it is in your fantasy world that bans words from people.

I am trained to and used to fill in for the traders making NASDAQ and BB markets at my previous firm. I think I can call myself a "trader" if I desire. Laughing

But yes, now I invest. No "trading" here.

I trade baseball cards and pokeman. I got out of Magic cards because I kept getting hurt by the "Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt".

jhilly8982, well it's my best source of income right now. I'm not comparing myself to people who "stand toe to toe in a pit making markets." I think "trading" is the common term for the act of short-term buying and selling things like stocks and ETFs.

It's always been energy markets for me.

What I have now is minimal as I don't keep quite the eye on it that I used to. Offed my Chevron stock which I picked up in early '06 and ditched last May. Exxon that I picked up going into '06 was for the most part offed Jan. of '06, but I'm holding onto a decent share hoping for the best. Core Labs (CLB) is all I have picked up this year back in January and recommend it.

Huntsman looks like it has a good future going for it.
