uhm ok... riding is decent, dime a dozen id say... but whats up with the editing?

Looks like someone did a few tutorials online for the intro then got an infant to film / edit the rest.

I clicked the link to watch wakeboarding with good editing, not pre-teen body building show.

Also the constant music cuts were just awful to the ears, instead of just ending a song abruptly, try the flow into the next song, or match the tempos / beats....

Another interesting thing i notice was if the editor didn't have the footage to make the "cut-to-beat-of-song" editing method, he just through in randoms, which could have worked as overlays with transparencies, but not just dropped in, god that hurt my eyes.

What camera was that shot with? and the videographer should def. try and find a way to stabilize the shots. And please refrain from use such slow mo speeds with footage that wasnt shot with the intentions of slowing it down, it just looks like crap.

i did like the first song.

haha yeah not really a fan of the gun show that was going on in that vid, basically I could of done without seeing the first minute.

shaggyboarder, yeah and that intro part with the weird graphics and font could have been skipped too, and the song in the beginning, but the riding was bar none incredible. It was an entire video section filmed in one set. Not one trick wasn't done perfectly.

hanssapo, looks like the same template reused with different footage .... to bad its not a template, and just the same style of editing, a lil more creativity would be nice.

why dont you post some of your footage and we can all judge how well of a job that you do. If you cant ride that well then don't talk how its decent, cuz I'm pretty sure most of us on here wish we could rip like that. I mean give credit where credit is due the riding harley is throwing down is sick and to think that he is only 15 is crazy. Stop hating we all should be tryin to push this sport and support everyone who is in it. I want wakeboarding to get as big as snowboarding and skateboarding some day so stop talking stuff about other wakeboarders and use that energy to promote our sport.

jsweat, he wasnt ripping on the riding dude. He was criticizing the editing. As for his editing, check out www.wakevids.com for his work, pretty impressive stuff.

all im saying is the riding was great and all, but i was lookin more into the video. we all know harley can rip, but id like to see someone with a steady hand, and a creative mind make his footage speak louder....

Take a look at the work DPCfilms does or thewakeplace.com and you will see how the less amount of editing and special effects done is post there are, the better the video flows....

so dont come at me about the riding, it good. i was talking about the editing.

Going back to the video, i think Harley did pretty much every trick in wakeboarding in one set Laughing

The only thing I didnt see was a t/s o/a bs 3 but he did a t/s o/a bs 5 so I'm counting it. Other than that, he did every mobe and if it is done with a mobe 5 variation, he did that too. Every big spin hs 7, hs 9, ts 7, ts 9, hs bs 5, hs bs 7. Mobes: crow mobe, crow mobe 5, slim chance, slim 5, kgb, moby dick, moby dick 5, dum dum. That is just not right Twisted Evil

In that field you learn on your own and through real world experience... the ones who go to school well they look like drones of the system and their stuff looks like pieced together rough edits....

As for the editing and whatnot, we watch these videos for the riding not the fancy things you can do with your computer, yes it does make the video more aesthetically pleasing but it doesn't make or break the footage. Norbi isn't some big time movie producer who is making money off this video, he's just a kid who enjoys filming his friends and making videos for them. How about some positivity or atleast constructive criticism, you're just picking out the flaws and hating.

PimpinD2, I love you. Every time someone says Oh i went to full sail or I am going to full sail. Im like cool. Alot of people go to full sail that have no talent.

I laugh when I see someone who is going to full sail use a motion template. Looks cheesy and looks like crap no matter how cool it is. Sorry.

oh and im sorry but I would hardly say thewakeplace is doing anything different. The music choice and the editing kills me.

Someone can flame one of my videos if they like Im used to it. *im not saying im any better. but its wild to not be under the scalpel for once.*

dirtycracker, I actually like how thewakeplace has a set way of making their videos. What I think is funny is how they have been putting up the sesitec videos of these guys learning "flats tricks" except they have the sesitec set like an indian line. I would love to see Bob Soven go try a triple S-Bend at odub and see what happens. Obviously Bobby has a special talent so I'm sure he would be good at flats tricks but learning with an indian line is not beneficial at all. The one other thing i don't like about their videos is how they always start out zoomed in on a blade of grass and slowly zoom out to morning glass EVERY TIME. But like I said, using the same music is cool to me for the same type of vids and I think the kid is good editor.
Now as with Norbi, I wish someone would get some footy of him so he could have a video of himself. Norbi is an awesome cable rider with a really smooth and unique style. He is young and the only weakness in his videos are the intros. I have NO IDEA how to make the intros but yours are always very good, and the wakeplace's opening screen is also definitely something that took skill.

true dat. I just hate that people think Full Sail is required. For me Full Sail is so out of the question its not funny. I support my self working 40 hours a week and pay for everything I own. And ill be supporting a baby here in the next couple months.

Filming in itself is the battle. If you can make a video flow with just the actual filming and not crazy editing I think thats key. I always try to work on making shots transition but its hard with something like wakeboarding or wakeskating doing tricks back and forth across the wake.

And when you talk about the intro are you talking about the intro graphics? or intro shots? Some of these editors use premade templates that are cool but they are just cheesy. I used to try to use Livetype which is just premade templates but they look like stuff. Alot of people will never know their templates but another editor can point out a template from a mile away. And it seems like a shame to use a template that came with the program.

dirtycracker, talking about the intro graphics, yeah. For example, thewakeplace i think has a very professional looking graphic where as the Harley video graphic seems very amateur. I HAVE NO IDEA how to make a graphic, but I have seen many amateur videos with really cool and professional opening graphics. It's about everything with the graphic including the font, with the font being almost the most important and the Harley vid seems like Times New Roman, but I think the physical editing in the video is very good because he doesn't try and get all fancy. Pimpin is awesome at making good intros. What is the trick?
