I can wake to wake, I just want more pop. looks to me like im taking some of the pop with my knees. Do I just need to stand up more? any suggestions?

Take a hard toeside cut away from the wake, flatten out, and wait for line tension to build as the boat pulls you back towards the center of the wake. Slowly build speed and make sure you stay on edge. It's called a progressive edge. You don't have to charge the wake, just a nice gradual increase in speed as you get closer to the wake. Watch the wake as you approach it, make sure you're still edging, and stand tall as you ride up. You'l feel the pop. Keep the handle low and in both hands, pick a spot on the shore to look at as you land it and ride away on edge.
I watched the video. Your last attempt was your best. If you pause it frame by frame you'll see that you edged through the wake on that one. That's what got you that nice floaty W2W where the board levels out.

use the wake to jump, like anything else eg a bike off of a ramp
you jump when you get to the top
cut in to the wake (progressively and hard) crouched and compact, and then at the top explode upwards
and use the momentum of the wake to get you up and keep you going
landing on the down of the other wake will really save your knees and feel much better _________________ Desperate, but not hopeless, I feel so useless in the murder city

+1 to HHI Dave's comments. Your last was definitely your best. You look like you're absorbing the wake's energy a bit with your knees and by breaking at the waist (bowing at the waist like in karate). Keep your shoulders back and your knees straight when you hit the wake.
Also, your edge when you reach the top of the wake should be as hard as it is when you are edging out away from the wake on your heelside. You can obviously do it when cutting away from the wake, so do it going in too. _________________

I have exactly the same problem, and I'm landing right on top of the wake at the moment, which is hell on my knees. Can never quit get to the other side. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

To get more height drop your butt more when you are cutting into the wake (cutting harder / more progressively at the wake) That way when you get to the wake you can actually stand tall. Right now when you hit the wake it looks like you are standing almost full upright, meaning you cant throw your feet down.
By bending your knees during your cut / approach to the wake, you will give yourself room to press down with your feet. When your legs are already extended, you cant push down - your legs are already extended.
Also, search for threads on this, lots of good documentation on things to try. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |
