Im not getting the height I would like with my ollies. Anyone out there with any tips on improving an ollie. My buddies make it look easy and it pisses me off cause I want to step my game up out in the flats. _________________ If you don't live for something, you will die for nothing. |

You have the height to do an ollie 360 or 180?
You get an heigh ollie by 2 things.
1. A good fast speed, faster speed makes the water very hard so you get higher.
2. A powerfull push downwards with only your backfoot. Just try that out sometimes and youll get higher in time.
I jumped first mainly 10cm or less, now 1mtr is a normal ollie, just practice and got higher everytime.
(watchout you wont make nosedives on highspeeds, that... hurts ) _________________

To add to what Medina said, one key to getting a good ollie pop is speed. Cut out hard on your heelside, building up as much speed as possible. Then (and this is important) flatten out. Push down with your back foot, and pull up with both feet as the board pushes back against you. Again, make sure your board is flat before you ollie. If you try to ollie while you're on edge, you probably won't be too happy with what happens next.
An ollie drill they teach at TWC is to "pump" little ollies one after another in the middle of the wake. In otherwords, just do little ollie hops repeatedly directly behind the boat. Don't try to go big, just concentrate on your technique while stringing together multiple ollies in a row. This will help train your muscle memory.
Hope this helps. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com
