finally got my own boat

i did some work last summer for a man building his pier and deck. he wanted to pay me but instead i asked if i could have the boat thats been sitting in his garage that he doesnt use. he gave it to me on the spot. its a 1997 Bayliner Capri with 4.3L either Volvo or Mericruiser, not sure. very clean with new uphosltery and new sound system. all i need now is some ballast and a tower and im good to go. what a steal!!

no not yet. im finishing up my first semester in college so its at home 2 hours away, and i have to get through finals this week. but after that im going to get some pics up for sure

also its a 21' so how much ballast do i need/or can fit in order to get a decent wake. i know its not going to be great but its better than nothing and it was FREE!

thats sounds like the same thing with me, im finishing up my spring semester of freshman year and getting a boat!

Id wouldnt buy any ballast until you get behind it. You may be surprised on its current wake. My first boat was a 1994 18' Ebbtide with a 220hp 4.3 and for a beginner, it was all I needed. W2W's were easy, although without the tower I was very limited on my height. So, long story short...A tower may be a better choice, but I wouldnt buy anything until your skill level is exceeding your equipment.

i was just wondering for the future so i know how much money to set aside while working. i can do tannys, 180s, 360s(ocassionally), w2w, and almost ther on a backroll as well. i only started riding halfway through last summer and i got out 4 to 5 times a week with out my own boat and progressed very quickly

if it has a volvo it is a 1987 not 1997.

great job!! i also got my boat for free, kinda. it feels so great knowing that some ppl spend 20k+ to do what we get to for free! (dont get me wrong, i would love to buy a new boat!)

yea i feel ya on that one. i get so jealous when i see all these 40K+ boats on here and know i will never spend that much on a boat. but i cant wait for school to end. one more final to go and it will be nothing but water for 3.5 months
