Man the other site is exactly what wakeboarding is about. If you want to learn how to really have a BLAST on the water, follow their instructions. First it starts with a group of kids getting FLAMED for building a sick rooftop rail in this backwoods pond that is owned by the city. The warden said he was going to throw them in jail for essentially being terrorists by threatening homeland security with this rail. The dudes on the site were ALL FOR IT. They couldn't believe how a group of kids could be so disrespectful for building a rail in water that no one rides and isn't even a persons private property.

Then of course is the "Stop making Comp Vests!" thread. This one is just overall champ of threads. Basically if you do not wear a comp vest, you are a terrible representative of the sport and don't deserve to ride a wakeboard. They basically said that if you do not wear a CGA vest, YOU WILL DIE, END OF STORY, DEAD. I bring up the argument about the last few kids dying have been from traumatic brain injuries therefore you should wear a helmet if you are REALLY concerned, but they rejected this idea. Apparently you get worse whiplash with the helmet according to them (which i have never felt to be true because I have been riding cable almost exclusively for 6 years and haven't had any whiplash problems) and that the foam of the helmet will do nothing to protect your brain. I beg to differ. The recent deaths in wakeboarding have been exclusively related to brain injuries and not drownings. Just completely hypocritical. If you want to truly protect yourself, wear a CGA and a HELMET.

Now the newest problem is a boat blasting rap music on Don Pedro. No one was out and this guy was camping with his two sons on the shore with no boat, so most likely the boat blasting music didn't even know they were there. Buuuut regardless, the music had a bunch of profanity and the guy could not believe that people could be so disrespectful to listen to rap music with cussing. Not that I would say he is the best example but what do you think the Vandall and his crew are going to be listening to coming down the lake? It ain't country music i can tell you that.

Basically the moral to this story is DON'T BUILD RAILS, WEAR A CGA ONLY BUT NO HELMET, AND DON'T LISTEN TO MUSIC. Sounds like such a fun bunch of crews to go shred with Laughing .

There's a ton of really cool people over there, however the people who hate on the stuff you mentioned are usually the most vocal. I try to ignore the "moral authority" over there as best possible.

My biggest gripe about the other site is the way their board is set up, my scroll wheel gets a workout over there.

That place is kookfest. I go on there just to stir the pot. It's so easy: rip on slingshot, say you ride without a ton of safety gear, and Say something about weed and its like a hornets nest over there. so much fun to get the little kooks all riled up

My good friend here at school is close friends with the guys that do the shredtown videos. He hears more of the in depth crazy crap that happens with them that's not in the vids or descriptions...it's pretty funny with some stuff. If you look at a couple of vids and a long haired kid named Max comes in, that's my friends brother. He eats it hard on the correx rail with a towel as a cape Laughing

I take it you are referring to WW?

I had to reread your thread twice to pick up when you were being sarcastic, and when you weren't.

lfkyle/ronix you ARE one of those guys. Always flaming. You took my thread which was intended to discuss why manufacturers make more comp vests and turned it into a big arguement. No where in my post did I say anything negative about comp vests or about you. I felt your posts were very disrespectful and I have stopped posting in my own thread because it was pretty much dead. I chose not to post in your "lost my boards' threads and I will be staying away from your posts.

What are you guys talking about? Are you cheating on me? What is this other website you speak of? Smile

I met the Shred town guys at the Grind this weekend. I saw one of the rails that they built in the video. I thought it was pretty good stuff.

I predict more game warden work in the future. I predict more land owners will be chasing kids off private property.

flixmaster, no baby, shhhh shhhhh. That's just silly talk. Laughing Laughing

Been over there twice in my lifetime. Not only does the layout drive me absolutely batsh*t crazy. Didn't see anything worth staying over for.

I prefer my WB antics.

I considered joining over there, but after reading the rooftop rail thread decided against it. I applaud those kids for pushing the boundaries, and trying new things. Reminds me of getting kicked out of skate spots when I was a kid. I got trespassing tickets for everything from empty pools, to ollieing off the steps at the state capitol....ahhhh the memories lol.

As for safety equipment, it's a personal choice, I believe that's what makes this country great, being able to choose, if you die, so be it. Personally, I wear only CGA vest's, I've been ko'd by a ski to the melon and the vest probably saved me from drowning. Again, my choice, no helmet, cga vest, that's how I roll.

Besides all that, I'm with haugy, the layout blows, wtf it's like some 1998 BB set up.

WakeMikey, the title of your thread was "Stop making comp vests!" The purpose of a title is to say what your thread is going to be about. You don't have to type in my post, it doesn't offend me. All of the wakeworld SS probably wouldn't even understand the sentimental value of a board regardless. There happens to be interesting posts there a lot but then there is always a dude that has a stick up his you know what that tries to act like our daddy. Even the young kids over there act like tools half of the time.

haugy, honestly it is a good place to go if you need to release some steam because there is always someone to get into a fight with Laughing and yes you are correct I was referring to WW. It is just amazing how so many people can take the fun out of the funnest sport in the world.

WakeMikey, not just the title, but the first sentence was something like "I think comp vests are bad for the sport"

If a company has a cash cow like the gooru is to o'neill or the teeb vest is to billabong, why would that be bad for the sport? Anything bringing money into this fledgling sport is good, especially with board companies and local dealers closing lots of their doors these days.

shaggyboarder, it's not even if you say something negative. It is if you are on the right or wrong side of the argument in regards to whatever is being discussed. It used to be a vest vs. no vest argument, and now it is a comp vs. uscg where comp vest wearers are almost regarded as the non-vest wearers of the day.

The next thing never to do is never and i mean never knock on a CWB. To me their track record is pretty proven in regards to how often they break no matter what your skill level is, but because they have great customer service and replace the boards people praise them. I'm sorry but a board that breaks as much as they do is simply a subpar product. The shapes are good and they have a lot of pop but the damn things snap like twigs, and if you hit one slider on them, say goodbye to your warranty.

Last for the moment but certainly not least, do not knock MALIBU. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT KNOCK MALIBU. I would swear Malibu is sponsoring 50% or WWer's for how much they stick up for that company. Despite the new VLX hull not being in the same ball park as the old hull, to them this boat is better than a nautique and a mastercraft combined!! Would it upset them that Chad Sharpe actually has a V-Ride with Wakesetter decals on it, but everyone thinks it is the new hull. The V-ride incase anyone is confused is the old VLX hull, a truly superior wake. It is the same idea as the X-Star turning into the X-1. Malibu puts out a top of the line product but they do have flaws, as do CWB's as do Comp Vests.

That was a fun rant, feel free to contribute anything that chaps your azz over there...

It isn't censored, it is sponsored. If you knock one of their sponsors whether the criticism is constructive or not, your post magically disappears..fast

I actually rode a cwb prodigy, the one with the crazy computer grpahics and it actually held up pretty good. I dont know about their new stuff though, their bindings are just a huge turn off to me and I dont bother looking at them anymore. Wow after looking it up it was an 04 prodigy. I use to ride the zues bindings during that time and they were by far the best bindings out during that time imo, but i tried them on maybe 8 months ago just for giggles before i threw them out and they felt horrible lol. Theres just been so much progress with equipment latley theres really no reason not to upgrade to the new stuff.

Well say what you will about wakeworld but wakeboarder.com little sister wakeskating.com is just as bad. I got banned from wakeskating.com for disturbing the peace lol. If you dont ride the same wagon as everyone else expect to be pelted and if you dont stop after being pelted you get banned lol.

I don't know why I bother with any of this. It's more or less the same people behind the scenes here, the difference is the way you're posting. It has nothing to do with us running the two sites differently. I appreciate your new attitude on here, and if this is the way you posted on wakeskating.com you would have not been banned. Similarly, if you fall back into the same stuff that you did on wakeskating.com, you most likely will be banned here as well. As long as you hold up your end of the deal, I've got no beef with you in regards to your membership on this site.

As far as WW.com goes, in my maturity, I realize how ridiculous and childish any "them v. us" discussions are. I've gone rounds with Dave before, and in retrospect, I regret it. It's Dave's site and he should rightfully gets to make up the rules, if people don't like it they don't have to go on there. That said, I have seen some threads on there that made me shake my head, but there are threads like this on here too.

I do think it's funny how wb.com has always been the "immature" forum, and WW.com (in their eyes at least) has always been the "grown up" site. I don't really think that has ever been the case, but people justify things how they can.

dirtycracker, dude you were pretty brutal on ws.com, and when you got warned, you just got worse. I know the feeling so I'm not knocking you, but it was just a slipperly slope and you were tumbling down it. Before you "lost it" your posts were always good and funny but then you flipped a switch, trolled every thread, and just made it annoying to go on the site. It's good to see you back though!! Your videos were always the best and I missed them. Cool

Its not only the moral majority, that site is just full of dickery. People constantly bagging on each other, nit picking trick names, people acting and claiming they are the voice of wakeboarding. They've got a whole gap pool full of hatorade going on.

I frequent the Wakesurfing section just for the traffic, and the BS seeps in there as well. There was a thread, long deleted, of two wakesurf board manufacturers going at it, hard and immature. I was pretty amazed to see people on that side of the industry acting like that.

I've almost posted in this thread three times. I like both sites. This site has it's problems too. I almost quit coming here early because I asked a simple question and got no response until stang killa showed up. Now I'm glad I stayed around. I visit both sites regularly but post here more often.

I agree with what wakemikey said about comp vests being marketed much more than cga. Comp vests will not float you if the worst happens. I don't care what you wear if you are informed. I've had some serious falls that I was glad to have a cga vest on at the time. I will always wear a cga and pay the money to get one I like. I got the side entry HL this year and I love it.

I see both sides of the argument as usual. I also see both sides in the don't be that guy thread, the shredtown thread, and almost every other thread. I don't think there should be a noise restriction on any lake but if you blare music at 7 a.m. on the dock/marina you will draw unwanted attention. You don't have to blast it all the time right? Do it when you are riding, when you're not turn it down a little, be respectful and you will earn respect. We turn it up going down the lake but drop it when we stop.

It's just the internet, don't let it get to you so much. You could be like me and having sinus/septum surgery next week so instead of starting my season now I have to wait until May Sad

I don't really know what's going on with this thread. Someone showed me DC's post so I'm replying to that. I fully respect what david williams has going on at wakeworld. Lots of people will say it's more conservative over there, and I would agree with that. There's definitely a different demographic over there and as long as I can remember, that's how it's always been. But it's very rare that he has an a-hole come on there and ruin the vibes. Yes, you'll get some heated debates and what not...but how is that different from any other message board.

And dirtycracker, you can act like you were mistreated and you are the victim, but I warned you a number of times about what was going on and how people were feeling at the time. At the very end, you were a huge a-hole and I don't regret un-inviting you from the community. Nobody even talks about you and nobody misses whatever it was you thought you were bringing to the site. Maybe think about that. It's not about being a conformist and acting like everyone else, it's about being a decent human being and getting along with people, and treating them as you'd like to be treated.

The wakeboarding industry is extremely dysfunctional. I've had a lot of experience with the industry over the last decade, and I'm not impressed by most of the people who are seriously involved.

I like both sites.

Both have great stuff and both have useless stuff (or people).

Also, I don't blast music on my boat and if I did it wouldn't be full of profanity if I was around other people (respect). I wear a CGA vest and I let new people to the sport know what the risks are. If I was tresspassing and got caught I would accept the consequences...

...and I still have lots of fun at the lake

ESNOW-

It was all fun. Grant told me that I was the worst person on the planet via wakeskating.com And I finally met Grant it was funny to talk about. I met alot of really cool people through Wakeskating.com and without wakeskating.com I never would be where I am now. I appreciate everything it brought to my life and It was fun. The last Year defiantly elevated to unseen heights and ive expressed before that I regret it in a sense for sure.
