|
It looks like when the time comes I can get a better Deal on a 2000 X-star, plus there are more of them on the market.
If i got a 2000, i would want to swap out that tower pretty quick. What should I go with? I saw the NDT and it is nice, but 2300 is pricey!
I'd rather not get a universal, and want to be able to bolt it right to where the factory tower bolted. Thanks Guys! |

The only thing you're going to be able to bolt to the factory tower holes is a factory tower. Why do you want to change the tower right away, looks? If that's the case, pony up the extra money for an 01 with the newer style tower.
Are you determined to buy Mastercraft? There's a LOT of good deals out there... |

I've heard on here that the 2000 tower has Issues and can crack.
I also think its ugly.
I am Dead set on a Mastercraft, I have always liked them and felt they were the best out there.
If there's a 2001 or even an 02 for a good deal, I'll certainly go for it, but there's a lot more 2000's for sale and only a few 01's -02's
The new Dimension tower I looked at (online) is a direct bolt on to MC x-star, so i figured there may be others, or at least X-star owners that have Upgraded their tower because of the Cracking issue. |

Hawk The new style tower won't fit in the same holes that your 2000 tower has in your boat. Just giving you a heads up.
If I was buying either a 2000 or 2001 xstar I would make sure I new what the true cost of buying a replacement tower for the boat. They're not cheap. If you have to drop 3-4k for a tower that might make the 2001 boat the same price.
I'm not sure the discount onthe 2000 xstars is enought to buy them instead of buying 01s. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

Thanks BamBam, and Dsparks,
all the more reasson to get the 01, I guess.
Boattrader has 6 2000's
and 3 01's right now,
Plus 1 02' in my price range. |

Agreed on the tower, I looked at that year X star heavily in my search. This one looks pretty dang nice!

I guess if you want to save some change right away and are going to upgrade tower later the 2000 would still be a great boat. Looks like that '02 needs new vinyl....
Anyway, to the original question, if I were to upgrade the tower, I'd stick with newer factory X tower, or maybe even the X1 tower. You should be able to find a shop to fill the bolt holes for a reasonable price. There may be a slight gel discoloration under the original mounts though...throw everyone for a loop and throw an Illusion on there |

Thats messed up!
That one didn't come up in my search,
because they didn't put the - (hyphen) in X-star in the ad.
Stupid Boattrader.
That one IS nice, and in my range. |

I bet Wayne at NDT probably made the jig for the MC boats during that year. You should call NDTowers and just talk to wayne about your options. _________________ Wakeskating

flixmaster, Agreed.
But also I'd look at a 205V - then just add the tower yourself. The 205v is the same boat, but won't have tower holes to fill in first. Chances are it won't have been loaded up with ballast all its life either _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

| A 205V is certainly not out of the question, theres a nice one with a zero flex tower in Austin right now for 18,500. |
