It was answered a few times in a serious manner, ending with ontrider's suggestion/diagram that came before the "shoelace" post. Relax dude, people are just antsy because riding season is getting close and it has been a long winter for some of us. _________________

Dude, Kyle you just got a sweet boat, we just gave you some suggestions on different ways to hook your rope up..... sounds like you accidentally sat on your tow point
alright, I'm bored and grabbed my roommates stereo cord to show what I do..
Pretend the plug is the end of the rope, make the loop at the length you want to ride at.
not sure when the video will be done processing but here it is.
Awesome vid.
I did change my rope set up tonight. So all should be well tomorrow. I hope I am brave enough to get in 60* water and trust my wet suit. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

Well, thanks and I am sure you are an Eistein yourself. It makes me have a nice warm feelign inside that when I ask a safety question I get flamed for it.
I'm not the one who had to google how to put a loop on a knob. It's a logic question, not a safety question _________________

LakeIolaLuke, mellow out. Seriously, you went to a personal attack for no reason.
People gotta learn sometime, it's not helpful to anyone to jump down their throats because they ask a question, even if it's a simple one. It's not the sort of environment we're trying to foster here. _________________ wakeboards wakeboarding

We're mostly trunking it here, water is 62-65...you should be fine with a full wetsuit, i'd hope. Air temp and sunshine are all that matters _________________ <insert witty banter here>
Nope, just couldn't do it yet. Too my hands were too cold to think I could realy hang on to a handle all that well. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN
What is your water temp? We went out last weekend in full suits in mid 50's water. Keep your hands out of the water and you're fine _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
The noose never fails especially if you want to choke the tower out. Just release when it starts turning blue. _________________ If you don't live for something, you will die for nothing.
alright so I used my technique to create about 50' of length for my buddy when he brought his skate out and i don't know if i did it right or not (99% sure i did it right) but it never bit and then ended up slipping about 10 feet before he let go and it ended up shredding some of my coating off.
I don't know what kind of loop/knot can be made to ride at any length you want but the one in the vid i posted won't work!! _________________ Wake Forest University
kyle f, I didn't see this post when it was first discussed, but I can't stop laughing at that video and how deliberately slow you did that. Nice work.\
Blindside_137, I didn't see your video, but I know how you can do it. It will most likely kink your coating, and I would probably have to make a vid and show you, but I'll try to explain.
When you know exactly where you want your rope to meet your tow point, go about one and a half times the circumference of the the ball, and bend the rope into a loop just like kyle f does in that video.
Then double it over the same way you'd double over the loop at the end of your rope.
The loop you just made will act like the loop at the end of your rope. Repeat the last step with the new loop and tighten it onto the rope that extends out to the handle to create a slip knot.
The second loop goes over your tow point, and you pull it tight with both loose ends.
To simplify, you make the same loop twice and pull the first loop tight around the loose end that goes to the handle, then slide it tight to your tow point. As long as it's tight, it won't slip, but like I said, it will kink your coating pretty good. _________________

Blindside_137, my bad, I guess I wasn't paying attention. Well, I laughed pretty much the whole time I was watching it. It reminded me of how you talk slower to someone who doesn't speak the same language.
I'll try to get a video up sometime soon. I'm away from home and my video camera, but I was thinking about picking up the new Iphone that takes video this afternoon.
Only thing I was thinking about was that the coated rope may be the reason your other knot slipped. Just like you can't tie a large rope as tight as a smaller one, the coating may prevent a snug knot. _________________

tie end to tower(a good knot)..........tie noose at other end......stick head in noose.....accelerate boat........jump off boat...... _________________ IN GOD WE TRUST,..........ALL OTHERS MUST PAY CASH!!!!!
No pics, but it is amazing how tight a rope can get that is attached "incorrectly" to the tower. Freaking unbelieveable! If I hasen't seen it myself, I never would have believed it.
I was able to reassemble the rope later that night. A word to the wise -- go buy a good sized pocked knife and keep it on your boat.
