I am looking at a 2002 moomba mobius lsv
the engine have a broken crankcase (from cold temperature) but is running (water goes in oil)
Does someone know how much it can cost to repair?
I am willing to do part of the job if possible...
Thanks a lot |

Given that you're asking about it, I'm going to say that it's probably beyond your mechanical abilities.
Get quotes to get it done, if what you can buy the boat for plus what is will cost to fix is still a good deal for the boat then buy it. I'd have the boat checked out pretty throughly, if they didn't bother to winterize it who knows if they did any maintenance at all.
There are plenty of smoking deals out there on boats right now, no need to buy one that needs a motor unless it's a really really good deal. |

I have to agree on this. It's not a job you want to learn on.
At the very least, you will need a block as it's most likely cracked someplace and can't be repaired. The next option is a "short block". Both of these options require some skilled man hours. Last, a replacement engine!
A general price range would be $1500 (reman short block) to $6000 (new engine) Keep looking. _________________ Keep it original, Pete |

Thanks for your input guys, I have some mechanical skills (have been pro mx racer, so mechanics too!) but no experiene on boat....and I understand it's completely different. I was thinking maybe removing the engine from the boat but let someone else do the engine repair...
what range of $ it can be?
Thanks |

X2
If you have tto ask then you probably cant do it yourself and it would have to be a smoking deal to mess with that especially since they are not expensive to begin with |

ahh alright, that doesn't change things that much on pricing then. Call a couple dealerships and get quotes on getting it replaced. If the price is good enough that your going to come out ahead have the rest of the boat checked out. If not keep looking.
Pulling the motor yourself might save you a couple dollars, but not much, I'd leave it to a shop. |
