I think my starter on my malibu finally went Two years in salt with 300 hours. Id say it lasted for a while. Every time i take her out I spray all the chrome / engine down with anti corrosive stuff. But i think it finally took a crap. I haven't taken out the boat in about 4 weeks so i figured the salt in the engine compartment eventually just got to it and seized it up. I wasnt even getting the slightest budge out of it.

Ejazzle, get a multimeter and make sure it's getting power TO the starter. If it is, for a temporary fix, you could try tapping on it with a screw driver to see if you can loosen it up and get going again. _________________ wakeboards

| oh i had a hammer to it. And a bunch of silicone and shizzle. That's a good idea about the multimeter. But I can hear it trying to crank but it just makes a humming noise. I checked the battery terminals. Charged the batters and even put a jumper on it. No luck. |

Where you jumpered will make a difference. If you simply jumped to the battery then you haven't by passed the potential problem that may exist other than the starter. If you jumped directly to the starter then you have bypassed it!
Get the meter out like JIT mentioned and stop guessing.
The humming noise tells me somethings getting to the starter but not enough! _________________ Keep it original, Pete |

well she started first try. As soon as i got off the lift i realize the steering is a little tight. So i put pressure on it and it loosens a little. Then a little more loosens. So Im just doing small turns softly left and right. And i decide to force it a little more again. Then it goes "POP" then i go "FFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKK MEEEEE" so after spending 500 literally yesterday. I have to deal with this bullsh*t tomorrow. FML
this is probably the only silver edition in saltwater. I take such good care of it. I dont even know how this could possibly be happening right now. Everytime i take her out i literally spen 2 or more hours washing flushing etc. I guess two years and 300 hours in salt is finally gettin to her. |
