Well I just purchased my first boat about a month ago. I grew up slalom and barefoot skiing. After my first couple of years of college I didn't make time for the lake. That lasted about 15 years. Last year a friend of mine bought a boat and we hit the lake 3-4 times. Needless to say, the lake bug has bitten me again. So, I bought MY first boat. Its a '93 American Skiier with 215 hours (351 Indmar). Just got the tower mounted. I've purchased some audio components that'll go in over the next few weeks.

I rode a wakeboard for the first time last year. This will be a multi-purpose boat (skiing, barefoot, wakeboard, towables for the kids, etc.) I've already learned much from this forum and look forward to contributing.

Here is a pic of my boat. Lemme know what you think.

Welcome...good looking boat. I'd bet that boat will work well for the combination of activities you plan.

Thanks for the compliments. I can't wait for warmer weather. I was very happy with how the tower turned out. I expect this boat will throw a fairly small wake, so I may be looking into adding some ballast. I don't like the idea of sacs in the floor, so I may investigate rebuilding the rear bench and having a sac underneath it. Currently, there is no storage under the rear seat. But, that project may need to wait until the end of this season.

Oh, does anyone know where I could look into a wake tank? That is another option I would entertain, but I can't seem to track down who makes them and where I could order one. Thanks.

Indeed it is. Home of the Fighting Liberators. I see you're in KC, MO! I'll probably spend most of my time on Pomme De Terre Lake because its close, fairly quiet, and its possible to find good water on most days. But, I'm looking forward to visiting several lakes around the area. Where do you usually go?

EDIT: I updated my profile to reflect the state.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Tonight I installed a second battery with an isolation switch. It'll be much needed when I get the audio components installed. I have two Cadence TX amps for a total of around 1200 watts RMS. They'll be powering two 12" Cadence Wild Beast subs in a ported enclosure under the bow, 2 cans with Polk db, two Kicker kmt6s, and two 6x9s. I may need to add some tweeters to the front sound stage, but I thought I'd see how this sounded first. I also installed an iPhone compatible head unit. I'll be adding XM Radio soon.

I've already replaced the bilge pump and switch, blower, and horn. These all worked but appeared (and sounded) a little tired Otherwise the boat appears to be sound.

Kids can have an enjoyable and rewarding experience learning to ski, wakeboard and barefoot.

Nice boat, also forget about installing a wake tank.

svahle, I'm a PdT guy myself. There most weekends in the summer. Got a place in Galmey near The Triangle, is actually at the end of Galmey Cove by water and also near Wheatland area. I ride a lot in Decker's Cove, I'll keep an eye out for ya. There's a few pics of my boat somewhere in my profile pictures.

We usually put in at Bolivar landing and ride the river arm. It was a mess last year with all the debris. We'll have to head over your way sometime. Maybe we'll run into each other.

Oh I definitely agree that kids can enjoy all of these activities. Didn't intend to sound as though they would be limited to the towables. Quite the opposite, I don't expect anyone but the kids to use the towables with much frequency. Heck, if the kids didn't like them I wouldn't bother with the cumbersome towables at all.

I started skiing at age 5. My 6 year old son is looking forward to giving it a whirl this summer. I still have my beginner skiis and he can't wait to gettem wet. Wink

svahle, really cool to see the excitement and your whole family being involved. We went from parking at the party spot when we first got our boat, to pulling the kids in tubes, to kneeboard and finally wakeboards. We have done pretty much exclusively wakeboarding all last season and most of the season before and the kids love it. My 6 (almost 7) year old is still kinda more on the kneeboard...only got up on the wakeboard a couple times last year for about 20 feet, but he should be good to go this season. Our whole family, and some friends, wakeboard and we love it. It is a great activity to do as a family. Any watersports can be like that. Gotta love it! Memories! Very Happy

I ride that part a lot, too, when it is crowded or windy. Stinking Creek Cove is a favorite riding spot of mine, too. I'm sure I'll see you around. Flag me down if you see this boat:

The belts and hoses all look good. I'm gonna pick up an impeller this week and check the one that's in it. I'll keep a spare in the boat. These DDs sure make it easy to get to things like that.

Tonight I started installing the audio components. I ran into a bit of a snag in that the place I intended to mount both amps didn't pan out. So I had to rethink things. I did get the smaller amp mounted and I believe I'll mount the larger sub amp directly to the enclosure (once I get around to building it). My tower wiring harness showed up today. I found out the boat's cover is in worse shape than I thought as I returned home today to a wet boat.

Here are a few pics of my progress.
