I've been riding on an old liquid force board for about 2 years now (can't remember the name of it and it's really pissing me off, but it's got a really trippy design w/ bearded troll guys and mushrooms on it). Anyway, I like the board when I put smaller fins on it, with big fins I feel like it sticks to the water too much.
I've also ridden a trip a few times and liked it, especially how it held an edge.
I'm 6'2, 180lbs.
The boards I'm interested in are:
Trip 138 - continuous rocker
Substance 138 - 3 stage rocker
Omega 139 - hybrid rocker
ps3 - 3 stage rocker
I've got a snowboarding background and so far on a wakeboard can jump wake to wake, do 180's, and a few simple surface tricks. The boat I'm usually behind is a late 90's mastercraft without pumps or fat sacks, so the wake is on the smaller side.
What are your thoughts on these boards? Depending on my skill level and boat, which rocker type would work best for me?

You need to give more info like your height and weight. Other than my board I have only ridden a LF Watson and HL Premier but both are good boards. I love the Watson. I just bought a Slingshot Recoil and I'm probably about the same skill level as you. If you snowboard you would probably like anything from Slingshot or Company because of the flex technology but then again you may not. I'm sure there are people on here that will lead you in the right direction. _________________ Sportbike Track Time Southern Division Instructor |

Go bigger, I won't ride anyting shorter than 140 and Im 170 at my heaviest
seriously, at 180, you should be looking at 142 to 145 ish _________________

| Wow? Really? All the sizing charts say a 138 goes up to 225 lbs and a 142 is something like 200+ |

I rode a 136 all last year and struggled with my jumps. I just got a 143 LF Lyman board. I've yet to try it out, but everyone I've talked to that has tried different sized boards feels this board is going to work much better for me. I am in the high 180 range. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I'll give more input later... but the Substance is one of the best boards I will EVER ride. It was my board for 4 years. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

Cool, I think I've narrowed it down to the substance. The only issue now is size. 138 or 142? I feel like the 142 might be a little better for me because I'm somewhat tall, but I'm worried about the weight. The sizing chart says the 142 is for 165 - 250 lbs +, and the 138 is for 140-225 lbs.
At 190 lbs (I constantly change from 180-190), I'm like right in the middle of both weight ranges. I'm on the top end of the 138 and the lower end of the 142.
Will there be a huge difference in performance from a 138 to a 142? What do you suggest? |

Like I said, I was riding the 136 and I was near the top end. I'm going to a 143 this season so I am closer to the mid range or low end for the board. Having the larger board puts you higher on the surface of the water and provides a variety of benefits. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

mcru, If you're squarely between sizes, go up. a bigger board, like okie said ride higher in the water, pops more consistently, and lands softer. as for the whole swing weight myth, every 1080 has been landed on boards 142 cm or longer, and Danny's 1260 was on a 142. Rusty and Brad have done 10's on 146 cm boards, so i think that quells the myth that you can't spin on big boards _________________
